Balance Scoring
The Tigers have had balance scoring all season long with a different player stepping up each game it seems to lead. Devin Grainger Devin Grainger 6'1" | PG Conway | 2024 State SC tonight finished with 14 points, 6 steals and 5 assists to my unofficial stats. Grainger a left-handed guard has a nice mid-range game and plays so active in the passing lanes getting his hands on about everything that comes his way. Grainger played Quarterback this past season on the football field for the Tigers.
EJ Huffman EJ Huffman 6'5" | PF Conway | 2022 State SC patrolled the paint for the Tigers on his way to scoring 14 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. EJ plays the game so much bigger than his size in the paint and never gives up on anything when it comes to effort. Huffman does his best work inside the paint and finishing on contact. EJ can sprint down the floor and beat bigger post players down in transition. He does a great job of rebounding the ball out of his area.
Aiden Brantley Aiden Brantley 6'2" | SF Conway | 2023 State SC was able to knockdown a handful of three pointers behind the arc tonight on his way to 13 points. Brantley has a strong frame and plays the game very deliberate out on the wing for the Tigers.
Boost off the Bench
Amarian Charles provided a spark for the Tigers by hitting on (3) three pointers tonight coming off the bench for the Tigers. Charles a water-bug guard sure doesn’t lack confidence with his play. Charles finished the evening with 9 points.
The Seahawks Were Not In This One
The Myrtle Beach HS Seahawks were really never in this game tonight with the county rivals from 8 miles to the north of them. Myrtle Beach HS was led by Sam Jenkins who finished with 8 points while, 8th grader Jeremiah Favorite Jeremiah Favorite 6'0" | PG Boiling Springs | 2026 State SC added 6 points and freshman John Simmons John Simmons 6'3" | SF Myrtle Beach | 2025 State SC chipped in with 5 points.
Favorite just an 8th grader ran the point guard position when on the floor and connected on few buckets late in the game. Simmons a promising Wide Receiver and athlete for the Seahawks looks to be the future of the program with Favorite moving forward. Jenkins brings a rugged blue-collar approach to the game and plays inside the paint.
No Need – Will Need You On Another Night.
Carlton Terry Jr didn’t score tonight for the Tigers despite starting and playing. Carlton fresh off a North-South Football All-Star Game as a wide receiver is just another piece to this talented Tigers basketball roster. He will look to play football and sign in February 2022. “CT” recorded 9 receptions and 96 yards in getting Offensive MVP in the Game. Terry for the season had 30 receptions – 735 yards and 8 touchdowns in 8 games for the Tigers.
Can the Tigers make a run in Class 5A this season in the Lower State? Will have to wait and see thats for sure.
