Continue ReadingHappy Holidays! All they want in the cornhusker state for Christmas every year is for the student-athletes to take their education seriously and leave it all on the floor. That’s exactly what’s been going on leading up to week 4. In this week I was able to scout the game between the Beatrice Orangemen and the Skutt Catholic Skyhawks. The opening round of the classic Metro Holiday Tournament began as well and I will point out key performances that are notable.
Beatrice vs Skutt Catholic 12-21-21
The Skutt Skyhawks hosted a matchup against the Beatrice Orangemen in week 4 before Christmas break. Skutt and Beatrice are a part of the Nebraska Class B District. Both teams are elite programs in their districts so this game was important for both. Beatrice was ranked the #1 team in Nebraska before this matchup but they would fall to the Skyhawks 49-40 and receive their first loss of the season. It was a pretty tight game overall. Both teams are very disciplined on offense (Class B overall). They swung the ball around the arc and waited for the best shot possible. Skutt would outscore Beatrice by one or two buckets the first thru the third quarter. That was enough to hold off Beatrice’s 4th quarter comeback attempt. Beatrice would win the 4th quarter led by Nebraska standout Elliot Jurgens Elliot Jurgens 5'11" | CG Beatrice | 2022 State NE . He had the best game amongst all the players on the court. He was able to show he can create his own shot off the dribble and with a hand in his face. He looked like a real star in the loss to the Skyhawks. He left me with the feeling he can play for a program that’s disciplined or one that just runs.
