Three Games
Cyprus vs RSL Academy
Cyprus pulls out an impressive win against RSL Academy as there was some excellent guard play but the player that stole the show was Justus Jackson-Fobbs Justus Jackson-Fobbs 6'6" | SF Cyprus | 2023 State UT who was just too much at the wing position scoring 21 points and possibly getting Cyprus back on track.
Orem vs. Juan Diego Catholic
Orem is good and no matter what gimmick is thrown at them they have the guys that can figure it out. Orem’s guard play was too much for the Soaring Eagle to handle. Nick Clark Nick Clark 6'3" | SG Orem | 2022 State UT , Ethan Stoddard and Carter Walker Carter Walker 6'5" | CG Orem | 2022 State UT had themselves a game.
Olympus vs. Taylorsville
Talk about two teams going in different directions Olympus manhandles Taylorsville 87-50. Dutch Dowdell Dutch Dowdell 6'6" | SG Olympus | 2024 State #310 Nation UT was in his three-point bag as he hit 8 three-pointers in the route. Dutch is an excellent shooter that is a zone buster.
Three Prospects
6’6 G Cam Dyer || Dixie High School || 2022 ||
Athletic 3 which do not typically exist os out there. If you’re a small school looking for a player that has potential and are willing to develop do not hesitate on this kid.
6’6 G Chris Cox || Cottonwood High School || 2024 ||
Cottonwood is slowly having themselves a nice season and they are getting production from a lot of new faces including Chris Cox who has some eye popping potential as a 2024 prospect.
5’11 PG Elijah Kersey || Box Elder High School || 2024 ||
Elijah has been quietly having a solid sophomore season helping Box Elder get some tough wins. Although he typically doesn’t do his damage from the outside he can hurt you from deep. Great facilitator.
Three Surprises
#1 Ridgeline Dominates Dixie
Ridgeline has not lost any focus as it has powered through a tough schedule and they continue to build momentum riding the production of players like Kaden Cox Kaden Cox 6'0" | SG Ridgeline | 2022 State UT and Peyton Knowles Peyton Knowles 6'6" | SF Ridgeline | 2022 State UT . With Risko Brooks Risko Brooks 6'1" | CG Dixie | 2022 State UT out again Dixie was no match for Ridgeline who got a major performance once again from Kaden Cox Kaden Cox 6'0" | SG Ridgeline | 2022 State UT . This team is dangerous and look out as they take on 6-0 Snow Canyon next.
#2 Tarkanian Classic Play for local teams
When you look at the amount of teams and the level of play and brackets that teams are in over in Las Vegas it is impressive to see the local Utah teams hang tough with these other out of state teams. There have been some close games like PG pulling it off late in a big win and even Timpview which is short handed looses with a shot to win as time expires. Timpanogo surving and getting great play from their top players. Alta had a shot but let a slow start really burry them early.
#3 Snow Canyons Surge
In the past Snow Canyon has been an after thought as they haven’t really had the talent pool that some of the other schools have in Southern Utah, but this year is different as the team is not just depending on Lyman Simmons Lyman Simmons 6'10" | PF RSL Academy | 2023 State UT who carried a lot of the load last season. This year they are getting production from Bowen Hammer Bowen Hammer 6'8" | CG Fairmont Prep Academy | 2023 CA-S who is increasing his stock at a 2023 wing and also from senior G Walker Morrison. This could be a special year for them as they have wins over Cyprus (A), Cedar City and Riverton (6A). Huge game coming up against Ridgeline.
