Here is a quick look at some of the top performances, noteworthy scores, and more from the weekend around Indiana.
- Hunter Johnson Hunter Johnson 6'2" | SG South Decatur | 2022 State IN (South Decatur H.S. 2022) scored 42 points for the second time in as many games this season. The 6’2″ explosive, scoring guard led the Cougars to a 82-64 win over Switzerland County Friday night. Freshman Cam Craig was very good in his high school debut for Switzerland County scoring a team-high 18 points. Craig backed it up with a 30-point performance on Saturday in a win over Austin. Pretty good start to his high school career.
- Anderson had to mount a late comeback to escape Lapel with a 60-54 victory in a game that was much closer than expected. The Indians Ahmere Carson came up big with a couple of steals and layups late in the forth quarter to propel Anderson to a 2-0 start to the season.
- Columbus North overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Jennings County 58-52. Sam King Sam King 6'8" | PF Columbus North | 2022 State IN led the way for the Bull Dogs with 19 points and 7 rebounds. In the loss for Jennings County, Owen Law had 16 points and 6 rebounds while Carter Kent Carter Kent 6'0" | PG Jennings County | 2025 State IN and Keegan Manowitz Keegan Manowitz 5'10" | PG Jennings County | 2023 State IN each had 11 points.
- At the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic, Homestead fell 68-65 to Alter (OH). Fletcher Loyer Fletcher Loyer 6'4" | SG Homestead | 2022 State #108 Nation IN scored 28 points in the loss. Carmel knocked of Elder (OH) 39-33 in the second interstate matchup of the day. In the nightcap, Cathedral beat St. Ignatius (OH) 68-51 on the back of 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists from Tayshawn Comer Tayshawn Comer 6'0" | PG Cathedral | 2022 State #226 Nation IN . Xavier Booker Xavier Booker 6'11" | PF Cathedral | 2023 State #4 Nation IN added 14 points and 8 rebounds.
- Loogootee and Evansville Christian played an entertaining game as two of the best scores in southern Indiana traded baskets back and forth. Loogootee came away with a 79-74 overtime victory Saturday night with 35 points from Peyton Bledsoe Peyton Bledsoe 6'4" | SF Loogootee | 2023 State IN . Josiah Dunham Josiah Dunham 6'0" | PG Evansville Christian | 2024 State IN led all scorers with 36 in the loss.
- A late basket by Logan Imes Logan Imes 6'4" | PG Zionsville | 2023 State #202 Nation IN lifted Zionsville to a 50-49 victory at Ben Davis on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles are 2-0 after the first week with a very impressive resume.
