#1 – Raysean Seamster Raysean Seamster 6'6" | SF Roosevelt | 2022 State OR (2022 Roosevelt)
Last year’s Player of the Year, Lamar Washington, has officially moved on to finish high school in Arizona so bumping up to the top spot is Seamster, last year’s revelation of the year. At 6-foot-6, he showed the length and athleticism to make an impact on both ends of the floor and plenty of potential offensively. He showed plenty of this playing with Rotary on the EYBL this summer and D-I offers have come as a result. It doesn’t appear as if he’ll sign early and he’s recovering from a leg injury, but he’s primed to have a big senior season.
#2 – Samaje Morgan Samaje Morgan 5'9" | PG Churchill | 2022 State OR (2022 Churchill)
Morgan moves up a spot to #2. He ran one final time this summer with Elite 24 and did everything to cement his status as the top point guard in the class. Super quick and a pest on defense, the 5-foot-10 floor leader has the ability to take over games on the offensive end with both his scoring and passing. He remains uncommitted at this stage with his recruitment and the opportunity to play on a big stage with Churchill at the Les Schwab Invitational may open some more eyes.
#3 – Luke Johnson Luke Johnson 6'8" | PF Central Catholic | 2022 WV (2022 Central Catholic)
Johnson also moves up a spot and remains the top senior big man in the state. The biggest news for the 6-foot-8 senior is he made the decision to give up playing football this season and put his focus directly on basketball and pursuing that at the college level. Plenty of schools from the D-I and D-II level will be watching him this year as he plays his final year at Central Catholic, where head coach David Blue indicates he will be playing Johnson outside more offensively to utilize his perimeter abilities.
#4 – Caden Harris Caden Harris 6'4" | SG Summit | 2022 State OR (2022 Summit)
The big move into the Top Five comes from Harris, whose summer led to an increase in college recruitment arguably nobody else in the class has had. The 6-foot-5 senior with the sweet-shooting touch has become a legitimate D-II recruit with offers from Western Oregon, Fresno Pacific, and Chico State and he’s made visits to each. With D-I programs continuing to show interest the big question is – will he sign early or play the season out before deciding? It might be the biggest recruitment story to follow in the next couple of weeks.
#5 – Devon Malcolm Devon Malcolm 6'4" | SF South Medford | 2022 State OR (2022 South Medford)
Malcolm remains at #5 for now but things are trending upward for the hyper-athletic forward as he recently got on the board with a number of JC offers. This summer he really proved he can do more than just dunk the basketball and college programs at all levels continue to keep in contact with him. A big season with South Medford – who will be playing in some big out-of-state tournaments – could lead to even more opportunities for Malcolm.
