TULSA MEMORIAL CHARGERS
OVERVIEW
After playing for four straight (and winning the last three) State Championships in Class 5A, there was always likely to be some form of regression for the Chargers. This form of regression came as a flurry of threes from Ardmore in the opening round of the 2021 5A State Tournament. Those threes from the Tigers sparked a rally that forced overtime. Ardmore won the extra frame and sent the Chargers home on the opening day of the tournament. It was a bitter end for the Chargers, but after their march to their last three titles included pivotal overtime wins and a regulation buzzer-beater, the regression of losing a 50/50 type game was due.
With much of their team returning, Tulsa Memorial is looking to regain their seat atop of a competitive Class 5A landscape. They’ll be led by senior guard Tyreece Frierson Tyreece Frierson 5'10" | PG Tulsa Memorial | 2022 State OK , who was their leading scoring and assist man. After a strong spring and summer, he’ll be making a case as the best senior in Oklahoma. Joining Frierson as impact seniors are big time rebounders Bradyn Hubbard Bradyn Hubbard 6'7" | PF Tulsa Memorial | 2022 State OK and Killian Spellman Killian Spellman 6'3" | PF Memorial | 2022 State TX . Two more seniors to know for them are guard Ronnie Dixon and newcomer to the program Dominic Turner, a forward.
The impressive thing about the Chargers is their depth extends beyond their senior class. They have one of the top junior classes in the 918 as well. That group is anchored by Seth Pratt Seth Pratt 6'3" | SG Memorial | 2023 State OK , a prolific shooter that shot 48% from three on 120 attempts last season. Junior guard Montae Collins adds to their backcourt depth, while newcomer Jarreth Ingram Jarreth Ingram 6'4" | SF Noah | 2023 State OK brings even more size at 6’7 and is one of the top athletes in the state.

NOTABLE
The Chargers always have an action packed first half of the season. This year it features two clashes with Arkansas squads, Fort Smith Northside and Little Rock Central. Along with those they’ll be playing in two of the premier tournaments in Oklahoma, the Joe Lawson Invitational in Norman and the 56th Tournament of Champions in Tulsa.
The Joe Lawson in particular provides a state tournament like test for Memorial. In the opening round they face a possible 5A state tournament team in Lawton MacArthur. If they survive that, potential match ups with Ardmore, Del City, Norman North, Owasso and Putnam City West await Memorial. All of those teams are very likely to be playing in the 405 in the second weekend in March. The TOC as always is loaded, with Del City, Owasso and Jenks making up the big school representation alongside Memorial.
