Continue ReadingThe SWBL looks quite different with 4 teams leaving the league ahead of the 2021-22 season. With the departures can realignment within the league with the divisions, but also opened the door for new guys to move into positions of being leaders for the league. Below are the 5 top prospects returning and all legimately have a chance of being 1st Team or Player of the Year within the SWBL.
Noah Rich Noah Rich 6'5" | SF Franklin | 2022 State OH (2022) Franklin 6-foot-6 SF
Rich may be one of the best shooters in the SWBL going into this season. A walking mismatch with his length and perimeter shooting, Rich gets his shots off and has great mechanics to depend on. Showed during the AAU season he could put the ball on the floor when needed, but looks most impressive and comfortable when working on the perimeter.
Nate Paarlberg Nate Paarlberg 6'6" | PF Franklin | 2022 State OH (2022) Franklin 6-foot-6 PF
While teammate Noah Rich Noah Rich 6'5" | SF Franklin | 2022 State OH is more of a perimeter threat, Paarlberg brings more muscle and toughness on the inside of the lane. The lefty can step out when needed and handle the basketball, but more importantly he can get after it on the glass and defend different positions with his size. Paarlberg isn’t known to score a ton of points, but he can be a leader on the floor and will make any defender or opponent work to outplay him.
Keon Wright Keon Wright 6'0" | PG Oakwood | 2022 State OH (2022) Oakwood 6-foot-1 CG
Wright can flat out play.and is bound to out up some big numbers when he steps on the floor this Winter. Wright is so explosive off the bounce and combos this with a confident midrange game. He plays the PG for the Lumberjacks but can be a 2G collegiately with his athleticism and speed. Wright’s ability to attack off the perimeter will be helpful for teammates as this opens up the floor and allows guys to spread out and open up shooters. Wright has the potential to be SWBL POY.
Will Maxwell Will Maxwell 6'5" | SF Oakwood | 2023 State OH (2023) Oakwood 6-foot-5 SF
Maxwell has been a crucial part of the Oakwood team since he stepped foot on the floor for the Lumberjacks. The 6-foot-5 shooter has great shooting release, solid mechanics, and a knack for putting the ball in the basket. Maxwell has a size advantage when he steps foot on the floor in the SWBL and can be more of a spot-up shooter with teammate Keon Wright Keon Wright 6'0" | PG Oakwood | 2022 State OH using his dribble drive to create separation.
Josh Mitchell (2022) Waynesville 6-foot-3 SG
Mitchell is one of only a few Waynesville players returning after seeing graduation wipe much of their roster from a season ago. Mitchell is one of the more athletic players in the SWBL and showed versatility over the AAU season playing off ball as well as running the point. Mitchell moves well on the defensive end of the floor and showed he can really shut down some of the slower wings. If he can really hone in and be the primary scoring threat, I see Mitchell being a 1st Team all-League performer.
