This list of guards presents a multitude of skills including scoring, shooting, slashing, distributing, and running offenses. Here are the guards who stood out this week

Davis is an elite slasher with a smooth handle that can get anywhere he wants to go on the court. Davis is aggressive with his touches and puts pressure on defense throughout the game He’s a solid finisher around the basket who can finish through contact. Has a variety of moves to create at the basket. Also shows an ability to finish with either hand and attacks the bucket with quickness. Defensively, Davis is active in pass lanes and has a knack for creating turnovers as an off-ball/ help defender.
John Broom

6’5 Jacksonville 2022
Broom probably had the most dominant performance in the state with a 49 point effort that included 16 rebounds against Faith Christian High School. Broom has tremendous size at his position and still has room to grow. A smooth athlete who has balance, vertically, and acceleration. He does a good job of keeping defenders on his hip and out of the play when driving to the basket. With the size and skill of Broom it makes sense why he’s had D1 visits in offers. The only question is how high can he climb up the state rankings and can he possibly penetrate the national rankings.

6’0 PG Pelham 2022
After Jones’s 31 point and 5 assist performance against Tarent, he continues to force his way into the conversation as an elite class guard in the 2022 class. In this game, he showed an improved jumper from deep, resulting in 4 bombs from deep. Still was a blur in transition and showed an ability to create opportunities for himself off the bounce.
‘22 PG Mj Jones (@m_jjones10) finished with 31p-5a-4r in his game yesterday!! One of the best PGs in the south. Also starting to play above the rim.! pic.twitter.com/FRT8vTYC9P

Buckley seems to have found his groove as a dynamic combo guard who can both distribute and assert himself as a scorer at a high level. Buckley has elite speed, quickness, and attacks defenses by slashing and finishing at the rim at a high level. He creates his shots with ease and creates sufficient space to get off his jumper. Consistently threatening the defense with his speed unlocks his ability to knock down shoots from the perimeter.

6’0 PG Lee 2022
Lane showed a silent assassin mentality over the week. Though his numbers aren’t gaudy or make you jump, he refuses to lose and plays with a quiet competitiveness that’s propelled Lee High School to an undefeated season so far. Lane poses an elite first step and quickness with the ball. Can break down both man and zone defenses with dribble penetration. He does an excellent job of running the offense and getting other players involved. Showed an ability to play off-ball by knocking down shots in some catch-and-shoot situations.
