We will start our three-part team rankings series by revealing this year’s preseason Top 10 “private school” basketball programs.
- Roman Catholic – Seniors Khalil Farmer Khalil Farmer PG Roman Catholic | 2022 State PA (Hofstra) and Daniel Skillings Daniel Skillings 6'5" | SG Roman Catholic | 2022 State PA (Cincinnati) as well as junior Xzayvier Brown Xzayvier Brown 6'1" | PG Roman Catholic | 2023 State #233 Nation PA return for a team that posted a 10-2 record last season. 2022 Matija Radunovic Matija Radunovic 6'7" | PF Roman Catholic | 2022 State PA , 2024 Toby Ojukwu and freshman Shareff Jackson will make major contributions.
- West Catholic – 2022 standout twins Kaseem Watson Kaseem Watson 6'6" | CG West Catholic | 2022 State PA and Kareem Watson Kareem Watson 6'5" | SF West Catholic | 2022 State PA (CSU-Bakersfield) will get support from senior Nasir Griffin Nasir Griffin 6'6" | SF West Catholic | 2022 State PA , juniors Zion Stanford Zion Stanford 6'5" | SF West Catholic | 2023 State PA and Marcus Branker Jr. as well as transfer Adam “Budd” Clark.
- Perkiomen School – Elite wing player Ryann Dunn (Virginia); 6’10” Princeton commit Phillip Byriel; stretch-4 style player Thomas Haugh (numerous mid-major offers); combo-guard Xaivian Lee (Princeton); and 2023 Priest Ryan make for a formidable lineup.
- Neumann-Goretti – 6’6” wing standout Sultan Adewale Sultan Adewale 6'8" | SF Neumann-Goretti | 2023 State #205 Nation PA (holds an offer from Memphis) as well as extraordinary backcourt prospects Robert Wright III Robert Wright III 6'0" | PG Montverde Academy (FL) | 2024 State #35 Nation FL and Masud Stewart Masud Stewart 6'0" | PG Neumann-Goretti | 2022 State PA headline a roster stacked with next level talent.
- Allentown Central Catholic – As they look to defend their PIAA 4A state championship, the all-state duo of Liam Joyce Liam Joyce 6'6" | PF Allentown Central Catholic | 2022 State PA and Tyson Thomas Tyson Thomas 6'1" | PG Allentown Central Catholic | 2022 State PA will get a major boost from Team Final Red-2024 interior standout David Fridia David Fridia 6'6" | PF Allentown Central Catholic | 2024 State PA
- Archbishop Wood – The 6A state tourney runner up (19-1) lost several key players to graduation. They will rebuild around a pair of impact transfers — point guard Justin Moore Justin Moore 6'1" | CG Archbishop Wood | 2022 State PA and forward Carson Howard Carson Howard 6'7" | PF Archbishop Wood | 2023 State PA (18 & 12 last season at Lacey in NJ). Senior Mike Knouse is a next level prospect too.
- Archbishop Carroll – Superstar guard Moses Hipps Moses Hipps 6'4" | SG AZ Compass Prep | 2024 State AZ will welcome back junior Dean Coleman-Newsome Dean Coleman-Newsome 6'2" | PG Archbishop Carroll | 2023 State PA from injury and welcome in high level transfers Jake West Jake West 6'1" | PG William Penn Charter | 2025 State #193 Nation PA and Shawnn Smith Shawnn Smith 6'3" | CG Archbishop Carroll | 2022 State PA . Junior wing Blake Deegan is a standout player as well.
- Archbishop Ryan – A host of prospects from last year’s PIAA 5A runner up squad have moved on to college ball. - Holy Ghost Prep – Lefty, senior shooting guard Shane Reilly, 2023 combo guard Seamus McDermott (HG Academic Elite Camp All-Star) and 6’6” Mel Lindsay (2023) are returners for a team that won 15 games in 2020-21.
- Pope John Paul – Superb guards JP Baron JP Baron 6'2" | CG Pope John Paul II | 2022 State PA , Jaden Workman Jaden Workman 6'0" | CG Pope John Paul II | 2022 State PA and Kevin Green are back for a team that went 15-2 (10-0 in BAL) in 2020-21. This group will look to build on the historic success the Class of 2021 achieved for the PJP program.
