Coach Marty Petersen’s overview on the Cubs:
“We have been really trying to accelerate the Sports Programs here at Alcester Hudson. It has started with the morning weight room hours and has progressed into large numbers of athletes going out for sports. For basketball, we are building a team atmosphere, and our core is built on Hustle, Heart, Effort, and Attitude. We plan to compete with every team. I think we have some lights-out shooters and talented athletes, I project that we will break some school records for scoring and shooting 3’s this year.”
Strengths of the Cubs:
Depth – 10 players will be fighting for playing time.
Heart & Hustle – The Cubs will fight, scrap, and claw in every game.
Fun & Swagger – This group has a ton of mojo and they will play with high NRG and some swagger.
CUBS
Dominic Van Egdom Dominic Van Egdom 6'5" | PF Alcester-Hudson | 2024 State SD (2024) |6-4 PF|
He is a legit post player with a soft finishing touch. Dominic has been a monster in the weight room this past year. He has improved his strength and speed. The Cubs have high expectations for Dominic. If he can build a mean streak and toughen up as a youngster, Van Egdom could be an elite player in the Region.
Rodrigo Samayoa Gordillo (2022) |6-4 C|
He has only played hoops for 2 years. Rodrigo is quickly learning the game of hoops. He is a pure and high-octane athlete that has ridiculous strength. Look for Rodrigo to be a force on defense.
Wyatt Boisvert (2022) |6-1 F|
Tyler Almlie (2023) |6-0 F|
Jose Topete Lopez (2025) |5-10 F|
Mike Kast (2024) |6-2 F|
Mateo Kleinhans (2024) |6-0 G|
William Hallaway (2024) |6-4 G|
Karson Kruid (2022) |6-0 G|
Owen Bovill (2023) |5-11 G|
Caden Winquist (2023) |5-11 G|
Carter Klaschen (2023) |5-11 G|
Evan Brown (2025) |5-8 G|
Ethan Bovill (2025) |5-9 G|
Thoughts from Coach Petersen:
“We have 3 Seniors returning after graduating 5 Senior Starters. We don’t have a ton of varsity experience, but the top 10 guys have played C and JV for 2-3 years and have been improving their game every year. This year should be very interesting as we could be a 3-4 win team, or we could surprise a lot of folks and win 10 or 12 games. We will fight and battle every single game, and if we come together as a team we should be happy with our results. WE > ME will be a motto for the year, we will have at least 10 guys fighting for 5 starting spots and should all make an impact on the game. It is going to be an exciting year!”
