Region 5 Champions: Northridge High School
New region no problem. With Northridge moving down to 5A we believe that they have the roster to find success and take this region by storm. With one of the best scoring PG’s in the state. Northridge has some veterans that could help get this team back on track. Sam Sivulich Sam Sivulich 5'11" | PG Northridge | 2022 State UT can really bolster that team and he can score.
Region 5 MVP: Sam Sivulich Sam Sivulich 5'11" | PG Northridge | 2022 State UT || Northridge High School ||
Sam will be up there as one of the top scorers in the state. Could see him putting up 23+ a game. This fall he looked like he was in prime condition as he can shoot and get in the lanes. What makes Sam even better is that he can create for others because he attracts so much attention.
Offensive Player of the Year: Mason Bendinger Mason Bendinger 6'3" | CG Woods Cross | 2023 State UT || Woods Cross High School ||
Mason Bendinger Mason Bendinger 6'3" | CG Woods Cross | 2023 State UT has been one of those players that has really taken off and become one fo the premier players in the class of 2023. The Division 1 bound guard can really score. He is a three-level scorer that has a lot in his bag but he also keeps it simple. He has some subtle moves that allow him to get separation. Mason has improved his range and shooting witch will allow him to get to the rim as defenders step out a bit more.
Defensive Player of the Year: Cole Mortensen Cole Mortensen 6'1" | SG Box Elder | 2023 State UT || Box Elder High School ||
Cole is a good on ball defender and he also plays the passing lanes well off the ball. His rebounding production could go up but he is a player that will be ready to pick up the tough covers.
New Comer of the Year: Carson Smith Carson Smith 6'6" | CG Bountiful | 2024 State UT || Woods Cross High School ||
Carson is a promising young player that will likely get some important minutes on a team that is young but could really get it going.
Breakout Player of the Year: Jaxon Smith Jaxon Smith 6'1" | PG Woods Cross | 2023 State UT || Woods Cross High School ||
We saw a glimpse of what Jaxon could with a little freedom and confidence and that is fill it up from all over the floor. Jaxon could get hot in catch and shoot but he can also handle and walk into shots.
