Ranging from 5A public schools to Prep Academies, the state of 2022 wings features quite a few elite shooters from Denver to Monument along with an athletic anomaly.
Mostapha Elmoutaouakkil Mostapha Elmoutaouakkil 6'4" | SF Eaglecrest | 2022 State CO – Eaglecrest
Eaglecrest High School’s most intriguing prospect, Mostapha Elmoutaouakkil Mostapha Elmoutaouakkil 6'4" | SF Eaglecrest | 2022 State CO proved to be capable attacking and finishing around the rim with both hands. Coming off a consistent junior season, Elmoutaouakkil averaged 13.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game on shooting splits of (fg/3p/ft) 52/44/63. The rangy wing has an excellent feel for the game, capable of controlling pace and plays exceptional in traffic in part thanks to his height at 6’5. His ability to get downhill appears effortless given his long strides and ability to change gears.
Derik Pranger Derik Pranger 6'8" Colorado Prep Academy | 2022 CO – Colorado Prep
Derik Pranger Derik Pranger 6'8" Colorado Prep Academy | 2022 CO is a 6’7 rangy wing who continues to develop the jumper off the catch. He is mobile in the fast break and has been improving his lateral quickness to the point where he can hang with the majority of guards. Currently, Pranger is most effective off-ball as a dependable floor spacer, but has room to grow as a scorer attacking closeouts. Once he gets into a collegiate level weight program, his defensive versatility could very well be his calling card as he weighs around 180 pounds right now.
Cameron Lowe Cameron Lowe 6'5" | SF Lewis-Palmer | 2022 State CO – Lewis-Palmer
Lowe features a diverse offensive skillset and continued his consistent scoring on all three levels. Getting downhill was where he made a living, using his strength around the rim to finish with either hand. He recently committed to Air Force as he looks to make a statement at the division 1 level. His 2020-21 high school season was cut short due to an elbow injury, but in his limited stretch of ten games he averaged 11.2 points, 5.1 assists, and 5.8 rebounds. Look for big stat lines from Lowe this season, as he looks to put on a show for those in Monument.
Joey Bilello Joey Bilello 6'8" | SF Thunderridge | 2022 State CO – ThunderRidge
Bilello is one of the state’s most consistent shooters and is still developing as driver. Between his junior and sophomore seasons at reigning 5A champions, Thunderridge High School, Bilello averaged 47% from beyond the arc on 74 total attempts. His most recent season showcased averages of 11.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and two stocks per game. The key for him will be letting the rock fly as much as possible, as he been adding movement shooting to his arsenal. His improvement attacking closeouts was noticeable throughout the summer, but I would like to even take another step as a passer in those situations.
Anthony Harris – Smoky Hill (pictured above)
Anthony Harris is a walking highlight reel who can get downhill with ease due to his stark athletic difference between the competition. Harris has the ability to play the five at this level while only 6’5 due to his ability to switch assignments and the jaw dropping vertical spacing. This past season at Smoky Hill, he averaged 12.3 points and 10.5 rebounds along with 1.8 blocks per game. While he can get wherever he wants at this level, improving his shooting consistency off the catch will open up the lane significantly for his emphatic slams.
