There is some experience back and senior Charles Rask Charles Rask 6'0" | SG Liberty | 2022 State OR is one of those guys. The all-around 6-foot, 160-pound guard prepared for this moment by playing AAU over the summer and it’s paid off with some college interest and improvement of his game for his final year of high school hoops.
“It was my first time playing travel club basketball so the competition was way higher and better than what I was used to,” Rask said. “We went to Georgia, LA, and Vegas and that was a great experience for me and it improved my game a lot. My shooting was good and I’m still improving my dribbling and driving. Playing defense and against a faster group of people really improved me defensively.”
Rask played club ball with Elite 24 and there were many college coaches on the sidelines in the tournaments that the team competed in. From there and other connections he’s made, Rask has picked up some college offers from both near and far. Locally, Multnomah has offered and Division III Pratt Institute in New York has offered him a roster spot. He’s keeping all of his options open and seeing what his senior season may bring.
“I’m looking for a good education, definitely,” Rask said. “Any size (of school) and a four-year, that’s pretty much it.”
Rask will get an opportunity this year at Liberty as one of the senior leaders and top returnees from last season, where he averaged 3.1 points while shooting just under 37 percent from three-point range as largely a spot-up shooter.
“My role will increase but we’ve got a lot of talented young players,” Rask said. “They will play a big part (this season).”
Rask currently ranks as the #108 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2022 rankings.
