The three day event featured the best post graduate teams from all over the country, ranging from the New England perennial powerhouses to teams in VA, FL, OH, PA, NJ, MD, KS and more.
With so many teams and so much high level talent, I have broken down the standouts into different regions and parts within the regions to make following easier.
We take a look at standouts from the midatlantic area, featuring players from Blair Academy (NJ), Scotland Campus (PA) and Mt. Zion Prep (MD).
If you’d like to watch the entire event, you can stream the playback on the CBG Live Network here.
Otega Oweh Otega Oweh 6'4" | SG Blair Academy | 2022 State #91 Nation NJ | 6’4” WG | Blair Academy 2022
While Blair dropped a heartbreaker to Worcester Academy in their only game of the weekend, Oweh was fantastic on both ends of the floor and solidified his top 100 ranking. The Oklahoma commit showed his athleticism with some finishes and defensive intensity he’s known for, but he also showed he can be a go-to guy who can create and make shots from multiple levels. He played both on and off the basketball, was efficient from multiple levels and if he didn’t deal with foul trouble they likely would have won. He finished with 32 points and 7 rebounds on 14-for-22 shooting from the field and 2-for-3 from deep.
Jayden Williams Jayden Williams 6'0" | PG Blair Academy | 2024 State NJ | 6’0” PG | Blair Academy 2024
While Williams didn’t shoot it particularly well for Blair, it’s easy to see why he’s considered one of the top young guards in the mid-atlantic area as he is quick, shifty and plays with a good motor. He lives in the lane and is able to get to the rim at will, he’s tough to contain off the dribble and knows how to get to the free throw line and he has the tools to be a lock down on ball defender moving forward. He finished with 7 points and 6 rebounds in their only game.
RJ Luis | 6’6” WF | Mt. Zion Prep 2022
Luis is a very intriguing prospect who should benefit greatly from a post grad year, as he has tons of tools to be successful at the next level. The first thing you see is his size and frame on the perimeter and he’s a natural athlete who can play above the rim, he’s able to make shots both off the catch and off the bounce and he’s very good in late shot clock situations. He finished with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in their win over Woodstock and 22 points and 9 rebounds in their loss to Northfield Mount Hermon.
Elijah Jones Elijah Jones 6'8" | C Mt. Zion Prep | 2022 State MD | 6’9” PF | Mt. Zion Prep 2022
Jones was fantastic for Mt. Zion throughout the weekend and showed he should have more division one suitors with his size, strength, athleticism and production. At 6’9” he has a very strong frame and plays with a good motor as he can bully other bigs and rebounds well, he runs the floor hard and finishes above the rim in transition and on lobs and he’s shown improvement with his touch out to the three-point line. He was very productive averaging 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Will Young | 6’3” PG | Scotland Campus 2022
Young is one of the many available guards I think a coach could win games with from the event, as he brings it on both ends of the floor, is an explosive athlete and can both score it and make plays for others. He’s a menace in the open floor and forces a lot of turnovers that he can turn into points, he is a nightmare to keep out of the paint and he can create for himself and others late in shot clock situations. He finished with 12 points, 5 assists, 5 steals and 4 rebounds in their game against Sunrise Christian and he finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in their game against South Kent.
Halil-Adboul Barre | 6’9” PF | Scotland Campus 2022
Barre is an exceptional big for a division one school that is looking for someone who can score it in the post in a number of ways and plays with a high motor. He’s still somewhat of a project and has room to improve but he has excellent hands and feet in the paint and is a great catch-and-finisher, he can score it over the shoulder and in face ups and he’s a big time finisher above the rim. He finished with 13 points and 5 rebounds on 6-for-8 shooting from the field in their win over South Kent.
