Greenfield School: CJ Alston CJ Alston 6'1" | PG NC GBBA | 2024 State NC & Matt Kirby Matt Kirby 5'11" | PG Greenfield | 2024 State NC & Kyshon Atkinson Kyshon Atkinson 5'11" | CG Greenfield | 2022 State NC
Alston, Kirby and Atkinson are a trio that has the potential to be very good together in 2021-22 at Greenfield School. Kirby and Atkinson are newcomers while Alston returns after playing the lead guard spot in 2020-21. Alston is an underrated finisher and playmaker that can knock down shots on the perimeter. Kirby and Atkinson are two quick guards in NC’s 2023 class that starred on Team DGBH this past grassroots season. Kirby has the ability to get to his spots on all three levels off the bounce while Atkinson should excel as the top defender in the backcourt.
United Faith Christian Academy: Xavier McKelvy Xavier McKelvy 6'2" | CG United Faith Christian | 2022 State NC & Landon Johnson Landon Johnson 6'4" | CG United Faith Christian Academy | 2022 State NC (2022s) & Lance Gill Lance Gill 6'3" | CG United Faith Christian Academy | 2023 State NC (2023)
United Faith Christian Academy looks to return to the 1A State Title game with new leadership in head coach Tamar Slay. Slay will have McKelvy and Landon Johnson Landon Johnson 6'4" | CG United Faith Christian Academy | 2022 State NC back and also add Lance Gill Lance Gill 6'3" | CG United Faith Christian Academy | 2023 State NC to the mix, who’s set to play a bigger role. Gill put up 6.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 1.1 apg as a sophomore while McKelvy (Winthrop) led the way with 18.9 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.1 apg and 1.2 bpg. Johnson returns after appearing in just seven games, posting 8.1 ppg and 3.6 rpg. They’re another trio that should do damage when 1A Conference action and playoff action heats up.
Cape Fear Christian Academy: Zeke Brock Zeke Brock 5'10" | SG Cape Fear Christian Academy | 2024 State NC (2023) & Deshaun Woods (2022) & Jakson Cullen Jakson Cullen 6'2" | SG Cape Fear Christian Academy | 2025 State NC (2025)
Brock had a productive summer with Team Wall showing he’s more than just a shooter, showing he can finish in traffic and score in bunches. Woods Cullen played up for much of the grassroots season which should pay dividends for him in the Cape Fear Christian Academy rotation. He’s a young prospect that’s got a ton of potential as a scorer on all three levels with a high IQ for passing as well. Woods is an underrated guard in the 2022 class.
Lake Norman Christian School: Khalil Marshall Khalil Marshall 6'1" | PG Lake Norman Christian | 2022 State NC & Christian Cornish Christian Cornish 6'5" | SF Lake Norman Christian | 2022 State NC (2022s) & Josh Bullock (2023)
Lake Norman Christian has a trio of guards in Marshall, Cornish and Bullock that should be a top squad at the NCISAA 1A level when it’s all said and done. Bullock does a good job of running the show while Cornish and Marshall are pests on the defensive end that find their offense by forcing turnovers. Cornish is an underrated creator off the bounce while Marshall can get downhill and make things happen in the paint. Bullock is a three-level threat.
Grace Christian School (Sanford): Jessie Mitchell Jessie Mitchell 6'4" | SG Grace Christian (Sanford) | 2022 State NC (2023) and Miles Matson (2022)
Mitchell is an underrated 2023 prospect in NC that has a strong frame he uses well to navigate all three levels off the bounce and make an impact. He was a key piece in the Strong Center rotation all grassroots season. Matson is a 5-foot-10 lead guard that’s coming along and should do well setting up Mitchell as an assist-man in 2021-22.
