The departure opens the door for some new teams to possibly step into new roles within the conference. Dayton Christian has waited around and now look ready to move forward, as does Yellow Springs. But can teams like Emmanuel Christian and Middletown Christian find support for their stars to give them a chance at competing? Take a look below to see answers to those questions.
Dayton Christian– The Warriors are returning quite a bit from last year’s solid year. Brady Woodall (Jr) anchors the backcourt and will have size in Devin Dreier Devin Dreier 6'6" | C Dayton Christian | 2022 State OH (Sr) and Isaiah Edwards (Jr) back to assist on the glass. The Warriors are poised for a potential MBC title, but what can they do in the Sectional/District tournament?
Emmanuel Christian– The Lions will be without scoring machine Jason Channels after he graduated this Spring. Brother Justus Channels (Sr) will pick up the slack, but ECA must find alternative scoring options as they were too one-dimensional with their offense last season.
Jefferson Township– The Broncos elected to not play last year due to COVID. There are a lot of questions about what this team will look like after missing an entire year and who they will have back. This season may be more about reestablishing themselves as a contender in the conference.
Legacy Christian– The Knights were MBC champs last year, but lose 3 of their top 4, including Jonathan Riddle. The Knights will now lack the versatile scoring they’ve had in the past which could pose problems. Brett Carson (Sr) returns and will be the key to LCA’s success.
Miami Valley– The Rams failed to win a game in 2021 after a late start. Casey Edgerly (Sr) returns but this team simply is not where they need to be to compete for a MBC title in 2022.
Middletown Christian– The Eagles are a team I really like regardless of their 6-15 record from last year. 2 of the top 3 are back including Jared Rose (Jr) who established himself as a solid player in the conference last season as a sophomore. Can the Eagles find ways to win within the MBC however?
Yellow Springs– The Bulldogs are poised for a special year after improving off of a rough 2020 season. All of the key guys from last year are back including high scoring DeAndre Cowen (Sr) and talented guard Eli Eyrich (Jr). This year has to be the year the Bulldogs compete in the conference and possibly in the District tournament.
