The event featured some of the top talent in SoCal and served as a warmup to the regular season. The event was held from Oct. 29-31. I was able to attend the event on Oct. 30, and here’s a look at some of the top standouts I saw.
1. Jon Mani – Beverly Hills 2024
The younger brother of UC Davis commit Jac Mani, Jon is a really solid wing prospect. He can handle the ball in the halfcourt and he’s comfortable creating offense for himself and getting space to get his shot off. He can shoot well from midrange and he’s a solid shooter off the dribble. Also able to get the rim and finish. He’s also a good defensive player on the wings. He plays good man to man defense and does a good job fighting through screens.
2. Keyon Kensie Keyon Kensie 6'7" | SF Taft | 2023 State CA-S – Taft 2023
Kensie was one of the best wing players I saw at the event. He’s more of a forward, but he can see the floor like a guard. He handles the ball in transition and he can find open teammates. He has good length and he gets good rebounding position. He’s got a good slashing game; he’s able to beat his defender off the dribble and is a crafty finisher at the rim around the defense. Has consistent range out to the three-point line.
3. Andrew Meadow – West Ranch 2023
Meadow is a bit of a versatile forward who can operate in the paint as well as on the wings. When I saw him play, he did most of his damage around the rim. He moves very well without the ball and does a good job making cuts and rolling to the rim. He can handle the ball though and he’s comfortable getting himself scoring opportunities. He has good footwork in the paint and can play with his back to the basket. Good finisher in the paint.
4. Robert Hinton Robert Hinton 6'4" | CG Harvard-Westlake | 2024 State #147 Nation CA-S – Harvard Westlake 2024
Hinton is another very good wing player. He’s tough to stop when getting downhill. He can beat his defender off the dribble and get all the way to the rim. He has good body control and he finishes well in traffic. He has a good midrange game and he can hit defenders with a one-two dribble pull-up. Very quick in the open court. He’s also a good wing defender; stays low the ground and keeps up with the ball-handler.
