Gabe Phillips Gabe Phillips 6'8" | C Beavercreek | 2022 State OH (2022) Beavercreek 6-foot-8 Center
Phillips is bound for a big year after having a breakout year as a junior. The true Center has great size, long arms, and a good defensive mind. Phillips understands how to use his frame on the glass and is fresh off the GWOC record for blocks in a season. Not known for being a primary scorer, Phillips will use his skills mainly to defend and compete on the glass. Since he did not play AAU this Summer, it will be intriguing to see where Phillips is at once scrimmages start.
Gabe Cupps Gabe Cupps 6'1" | PG Centerville | 2023 State #80 Nation OH (2023) Centerville 6-foot-1 PG
Cupps is one of the more well known names in the GWOC and in the state of Ohio. His skillset is impressive and mature for his age. Already a junior, Cupps has shown he can be a leader as a passer and a multi-dimensional scoring option. His defensive awareness is phenomenal and footwork is crisp. Cupps recently announced his Top 3 schools he’s considering which are Indiana, Ohio State, and Stanford. With Centerville being the defending state champs, it’s pretty clear the Elks are going to see defenses focus more on Cupps.
Tom House Tom House 6'5" | SF Centerville | 2022 State OH (2022) Centerville 6-foot-5 SG
House will come in this season considered one of, if not, the best shooter in Dayton. The Florida State commit can flat out shoot the ball and has great range. Quick release, good mechanics, and smart shooter, House can be a confident option on the perimeter for the Elks this season. Having a teammate like Gabe Cupps Gabe Cupps 6'1" | PG Centerville | 2023 State #80 Nation OH allows him to space out more and create opportunities to get shots up. House could see himself as the 2nd leading scorer for the Elks once the season gets going.
Dasan Doucet Dasan Doucet 6'4" | SF Fairmont | 2022 State OH (2022) Fairmont 6-foot-4 SF
Doucet has been a primary player for the Firebirds since his sophomore year. While he may be undersized for a SF, he definitely has the size to have quite an advantage as a SG/2G. Doucet has toughness and plain brute strength. He won’t put up massive numbers in terms of being a volume shooter, but Doucet can beat guys off the bounce and finish through heavy traffic. Fairmont isn’t been known to being a one man show so Doucet’s numbers may not reflect a GWOC player of the year, but no denying his presence with the Firebirds instantly makes them a better team.
Lawrent Rice Lawrent Rice 6'4" | PG Huber Heights Wayne | 2023 State #184 Nation OH (2023) Wayne 6-foot-3 PG
Rice is bound for a big year as he prepares to lead the Warriors after they lose 4 starters from a year ago. Also a member of All-Ohio Red in the Summer, Rice has shown me two different styles of play with both teams. WIth Wayne, we see Rice’s ability to create and set guys up magnified. With AOR, he can be more of a scorer and showed a little more confidence putting the ball on the floor and finishing over the rim. If he can be the latter for the Warriors, Wayne is going to have a chance to stay competitive and Rice is going to continue to see his recruitment accelerate.
