The Friday night slate is pretty light, but there are still a handful of games worth following this evening. Specifically, we have a potential preview of the Class 1A state championship tipping off up in Gary. Let’s dive on in to take a quick look at a few of the games around the state on tonight’s slate.
Indianapolis Tindley vs. Gary 21st Century
This game, taking place at Gary West Side, features the two top teams in Class 1A according to the Prep Hoops Indiana Preseason Polls. Tindley already has a 102-24 beat down of Indianapolis International under their belt, but this will be the Cougars first time out on the floor. The Tindley Tigers will have the size advantage with Aaron Humphrey Aaron Humphrey 6'6" | PF Indianapolis Tindley | 2022 State IN , Jayden Pinkston Jayden Pinkston 6'6" | PF Southport | 2023 State IN , and Jeffery Pinkston Jeffery Pinkston 6'5" | SF Southport | 2023 State IN , but 21st Century has Ashton Williamson Ashton Williamson 6'2" | PG Gary 21st Century | 2023 State #287 Nation IN in the back court that will likely be the best player on the floor. This should be a battle of two supremely talented Class 1A basketball teams.
Anderson @ Lapel
People aren’t talking enough about how good Anderson is this season. It is obviously early, but the Indians had an excellent summer and then beat Pendleton Heights 68-50 on opening night. Junior guard Ahmere Carson led the way with 24 points while senior big man Sean Paige Sean Paige 6'8" | C Anderson | 2022 State IN had 12 in his Indiana High School Basketball debut. Lapel was just 8-16 a year ago, but brings back a lot of production for new head coach Tod Windlan.
Jennings County @ Columbus North
Jennings County brings back some solid, veteran guard play from a 12-11 team last season. However, the storyline here is Columbus North after their season-opening 70-53 win over Heritage Christian. Senior forward Sam King Sam King 6'8" | PF Columbus North | 2022 State IN went for 25 points in the game and turned a lot of heads in the process. The Bull Dogs might be a little better than expected this season.
Bouns: We will also have updates coming from the Switzerland County @ South Decatur game tonight. South Decatur senior guard Hunter Johnson Hunter Johnson 6'2" | SG South Decatur | 2022 State IN began the season with a 42-point performance in a loss to Trinity Lutheran.
