I can confidently say that this freshman group is going to be special. It has a lot of depth and quality at the top. The future is very bright here in South Florida.
Here is my early top-five…
1) Cayden Boozer Cayden Boozer 6'5" | PG Columbus | 2025 State #28 Nation FL – Columbus
The 6-foot-3 guard impressed me with his motion off the dribble. Boozer can flip the ball into either hand and power his way to the rim. Moreover, his athleticism is second-to-none at this point. Boozer already has a strong IQ, indicative of how many times I saw him with or without the ball scoring near the basket. He just found spots to make plays. On defense, Boozer’s frame and wingspan makes him a very tough defender. I think he has an edge with his body and muscle over others on this list, particularly at guard.
2) Alexander Lloyd Alexander Lloyd 6'4" | SG Westminster | 2025 State #64 Nation FL – Westminster Academy
Alexander Lloyd Alexander Lloyd 6'4" | SG Westminster | 2025 State #64 Nation FL is phenomenal in the open court and has an extra burst when attacking the rim. The 6-foot-3 guard can springboard above the basket when left uncontested. His ability to make shots has been particularly impressive thus far. Lloyd will continue to grow into his body to handle bigger defenders. He will be a special player.
3) Cameron Boozer Cameron Boozer 6'9" | PF Columbus | 2025 State #2 Nation FL – Columbus
Boozer already plays like a seasoned veteran. The 6-foot-7 forward can stretch a defense and knock down consecutive shots on the perimeter. Boozer moves well without the ball and knows how to find his spot. Of course, he works well with his brother in these situations. Boozer also runs the floor very well at his size and for his age. I also like his strength around the basket as a rebounder. His mismatch ability is well-advanced.
4) Dante Allen Dante Allen 6'5" | SF Riviera Prep | 2025 State #57 Nation FL – Riviera Prep
Dante Allen Dante Allen 6'5" | SF Riviera Prep | 2025 State #57 Nation FL would be No.1 on any other list in any other state. I was very impressed with the 6-foot-5 forward in transition and his ability to knock down shots in rhythm. Allen has plenty of length to attack the basket as well. He is going to be a good one.
5) Shon Abaev Shon Abaev 6'7" | CG Calvary Christian | 2025 State #24 Nation FL – Miami Country Day
I could have flipped a coin between Abaev and Dillard’s Dwayne Wimbley Jr. I will give the nod to the 6-foot-5 guard because of his ability to shoot the ball. Abaev gives the Spartans an instant offensive weapon. He is advanced as a shooter from the free-throw line to the perimeter. Abaev will get even better with added strength and further repetitions. He holds an offer from Florida Gulf Coast.
