EDMOND SANTA FE WOLVES
OVERVIEW
Geared ahead to 2022, 6A is truly anybody’s class: Del City dropped a classification, Pedulla graduated from Edmond Memorial, P.C. North transferred or graduated most of its production, and Edmond North moved on from ten seniors.
In the mix of teams trying to emerge from the smoke is Santa Fe, which has been a formidable program for years, but has not won a championship since 2015.
Coached by Troy Lallemand, Edmond Santa Fe made an appearance in the state semifinal game last March, losing to the eventual champion, Del City.
Two starters, senior Mike Reeves and Kaysen Gipson Kaysen Gipson 5'10" | PG Edmond Santa Fe | 2023 State OK , return to play for coach Troy Lallemand’s tournament team from last season.
KEY RETURNERS
Michael Reeves Michael Reeves 6'1" | SG Edmond Santa Fe | 2022 OK | Sr. PG
- 2021: 11.2p, 3.6a
The playmaking slasher had a strong junior season for the Wolves, averaging double-figures en route to a tournament appearance. A third-year starter, Reeves knows the ins-and-outs of Lallemand’s system and knows what to expect from the third-year coach.
Reeves is a pretty quick on his feet, and he has good vision for the floor, a pair of traits that allow him to draw defenders and distribute the ball to teammates with room to score. Reeves also finishes well at the rack and can absorb contact from larger defenders without being shaken too far off his path, which often gives the Wolves an advantage against teams with less physical guards.
If opposing teams let this kid get hot, especially in the postseason, it might be the last mistake they make.
Kaysen Gipson Kaysen Gipson 5'10" | PG Edmond Santa Fe | 2023 State OK | Jr. PG
- 2021: 2.1p, 1.8a
Some notes on Gipson, according to Lallemand: “Excellent leader, high motor. Numbers will Increase.”
For the Wolves’ backcourt to have a successful year, Lallemand’s prophesy will have to come to realization. Gipson has great speed and passing talents, skills from which the junior will lend significant assistance to his Santa Fe teammates, but he also has the potential to offer important scoring contributions to his fellow Wolves.

NOTABLE
Despite being a top-eight finisher in the state, the Wolves were arguably third-best in town last season — the city of Edmond was just that good. This year, the city title is up for grabs with all three schools losing significant pieces from last season. In fact, the entire conference is up for grabs, with no clear frontrunner in the COAC for 2022.
A number of teams from the Central Oklahoma conference have a chance to be good, and one of those is Santa Fe.
Luckily, the Wolves will have the chance to test themselves against a number of conference and class opponents. In the Edmond Open, which Santa Fe last won three seasons ago, Lallemand’s squad will get its hands on North and Memorial on Dec. 9-11.
At the McGuinness Classic on Jan. 6-8, the Wolves will again be in a pool with Memorial. On Jan. 20-22, Santa Fe will have a rare chance to test its talents against 918 opponents when the Wolves take to the turnpike for the Jenks/Union Tournament.
