Continue ReadingPrep Hoops Missouri continues its preseason previews with a look at the Black River League. It’s a small school conference with some very talented players. Last year’s BRL Player of the Year Brock Wakefield of South Iron is now playing Division I basketball at The Citadel. And two more Class of 2022 standouts have already signed with Division II programs. The leader of the pack will again be South Iron, who won the Class 1 state championship last season. Bunker also returns some solid players as well.
The Starting Five
Drenin Dinkins Drenin Dinkins 6'0" | PG South Iron | 2022 State MO 6’0″ South Iron: A Class 1 All-State performer who has been getting major buckets since his freshman year. The Southwest Baptist recruit averaged 20 points a game in helping lead the Panthers to the state championship.
Preston Golden Preston Golden 6'4" | SG East Carter | 2022 State MO 6’5″ East Carter: An explosive 2022 wing who can score at all three levels and throw down impressive dunks. A Truman State recruit, he averaged more than 20 points a game.
D.J. Prater 6’2″ South Iron: A 2023 wing player who plays with athleticism and a high motor on the court. The talented lefty is an effective slasher who also excels in transition and on the offensive boards. Played a big part in a state championship run.
Cade Sutton Cade Sutton 6'5" | SF Bunker | 2023 State MO 6’4″ Bunker: A versatile 2023 forward who was an All-Conference selection as a sophomore. He has the skill set to score on the perimeter and the athleticism to throw down alley-oop dunks.
Nolan Mathes 6’0″ Lesterville: A 2022 guard who is a very resourceful offensive player. He can score from anywhere on the floor as he averaged 22 points, seven rebounds and two assists a game as a junior.
