- Mason Blackwood, Aquinas Institute – The top two players on this list could easily be named 1a and 1b, but that was not possible. I gave Mason the slight edge due to the level of competition playing EYBL this past summer. Blackwood is a 6’5 F who also can run a team from the guard spot. He shoots it exceptionally well from the midrange and has recently begun playing above the rim consistently. A mid-major prospect who will likely blow up this upcoming travel season.
- Khorie Reaves Greece Athena – Had a chance to see Khorie yesterday at a fall league e, and he seems to have grown a bit. Looking closer to 6’3 Reaves is another division 1 prospect with a lot of potential. Reaves is a freakishly athletic point guard who can finish with either hand and off of both feet equally as well. In transition, you can add two points on the board because he is unguardable in open space.
- Edmari Binion Edison Tech – Edmari Binion transfers to Edison Tech and brings one of the top talents in Rochester to the team. 6’5 forward who rebounds extremely well and uses his size to dominate in the post. Played with City Rocks EYBL this past spring, Binion brings an elite work ethic to a very young Edison Tech team with hopes to help them make a deep sectional run.
- Davijon Lipscomb Edison Tech – Lipscomb is a combo guard with a very high basketball IQ. He has been around the game for a while as he sees the floor extremely well. A great ball-handler who can beat you off the dribble at any time. Nice size at the guard position makes him too big for your average guard but too quick for most forwards.
- Emere Fulton Uprep – Emere “Lil Dad” Fulton pound for pound may be the best player on the list. A guard who can flat out get the job done offensively. A combo guard who scores at an elite level, can get into the paint and to the rim at will. A very creative finisher who also is a knockdown three-point shooter.
- Chris Leysath Aquinas Institute – Leysath did a great job raising his stock this past summer and fall. Getting quality varsity minutes for Aquinas, the favorites to win AA this season. Leysath, at 6’5, has a great motor and plays extremely hard every minute he is on the court. He runs well in transition and plays well around the basket, Leysath has a ton of potential, and he is well on his way to unlocking it.
- Myles Howard Rush Henrietta – Howard can do a little bit of everything, score, defend, rebound, while also being a great playmaker. He has developed an excellent mid-range, allowing him to create more of his own opportunities in the halfcourt. Howard will play a pivotal role in Rush Henrietta’s success this year as well. Be on the lookout as he is the future of the program.
- Marqell Freeman Edison Tech – Freeman has done a great job stepping into the role as starting point guard and leader of this young Edison team. A top 5 shooter in the area, Freeman will give opposing teams problems as his added strength allows him to get into the lane with ease. With defenses having to guard him the moment he crosses halfcourt, he very well may be able to break Edison’s assist record.
- Isaiah Anderson McQuaid Jesuit – Anderson is any coach’s dream at point guard. He handles the ball well, passes well, and doesn’t turn the ball over. Isaiah has the potential to be one of the best pure point guards to come out of the area. He has also developed a consistent three-point shot that has made him a real threat without the ball in his hands.
- Michael Bischoping Pittsford Mendon – Michael Bischoping is a prospect who many people will hear about this season. He plays for the previous A title winners and has a chance to play a pivotal role as they transition out of the “Shadders” era. A knockdown shooter off the catch who also can defend every position on the floor. Bischoping can play any position on the floor and has the potential to be the future of an outstanding Pittsford Mendon program.
