Kyle Hrncir Kyle Hrncir 6'4" | PF Farmington | 2022 State MN of Farmington (6’5 Sr). This article isn’t for established players like Kyle so I want to say this and get out. Kyle is an all around producer, an all around tough guy, and I’m telling you, he’s got an outside shot at being a Class AAAA All State player. He is that damn good.
Matthew Hosmann of Maple Grove (6’0 Sr). If Sunday was any indication, teams better find Hosmann when he’s on the floor. Hosmann (it’s two n’s but I guess I felt like he needed three yesterday when I was tweeting, most likely because he hits threes, maybe that will just be his hoops name, Hosmannn or Hosma3n) sunk five triples in six attempts against Duluth East and then hit seven of them scoring 26 points in the Crimson game with Edina. Find him! Or shall I say, Find Hosmannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
Jobe Juenemann Jobe Juenemann 6'2" | SG Duluth East | 2023 State MN of Duluth East (6’2 Jr). There are a lot of reasons that I believe Duluth East is going to have a very good year. One is the return of Will Van Skoy. Another is the transfer in of Dillon Bement Dillon Bement 6'0" | PG Duluth East | 2023 State MN who I think will be really good. I like the two way play of Michael Kastelic Michael Kastelic 6'1" | PG Duluth East | 2023 State MN , I like the Greyhounds size, and I like the other juniors that are developing. One is Isaac Nyakundi Isaac Nyakundi 6'9" | C MacDuffie | 2024 State NLG inside and the other is Jobe. I’ve had a chance to see three Duluth East games this fall and Jobe has played well in every contest. Good shooter that works hard, had 13 points against Maple Grove.
Lincoln Palbicki Lincoln Palbicki 6'10" | C Maple Grove | 2023 State MN of Maple Grove (6’10 Jr). Lincoln is of course pretty well known but I think his improvements have earned some space here. When the Crimson made their move against Duluth East, Lincoln went at Isaac Nyakundi Isaac Nyakundi 6'9" | C MacDuffie | 2024 State NLG inside and scored on three high quality post moves. One finesse, one power, and one power move finished with a great pivot. Lincoln scored 15 on 7 of 9 shooting and then had a solid game against Brady Helgren Brady Helgren 6'8" | C Edina | 2022 State MN as well. Brady got the upper hand down the stretch but Lincoln surely had his moments including a couple aggressive dunks that cleared the paint.
Elijah Smith of Coon Rapids (6’4 Sr). Smith averaged 15 points and six rebounds last season in big school basketball but I’m not sure he quite gets the appreciation that some others in similar spots get. After yesterday I think more eyes should come his way. Loved the way Smith played inside-out for Coon Rapids in their two wins. Saw him hit at the arc, saw him finish explosively, and a few of those post finishes were done with good pivots and a quick turn.
Will Walker of Breck (6’1 Jr). A big reason I think Breck will be a tough out is the fact that they can go to three different guys to playmake. Jimmy Koch Jimmy Koch 6'2" | PG Breck School | 2022 State MN and Waziri Lawal have likely caught a few more headlines but Walker is just as valuable. Walker is a skilled player that scored 13.5 a season. Yesterday his crafty basketball attack found it’s way to the cup several times. Breck has a three headed offensive attack that teams will have a tough time covering.
