The Big North Conference is loaded with talent with multiple teams having sectional title aspirations. Here are under the radar players to watch in the Big North this season.
JayQuan Briggs JayQuan Briggs 6'2" | CG Paterson Kennedy | 2022 State NJ , 6’2 CG Paterson Kennedy 2022
Briggs has been a key part of the Knights’ attack over the past two seasons and it should continue in his final varsity season. The 6’2 guard is at his best attacking the basket as he is a good finisher and can draw contact. Briggs has a nice handle and can score in the mid-range. He is a strong rebounder for a guard and moves his feet well on the defensive end. Briggs will be counted on to up his scoring over the last two seasons if the Knights want to recapture their sectional title from 2020.

Watson is a breakout candidate in North Jersey as he looks to get more touches on offense. The 6’8 forward is a good shot-blocker as he uses his combination of size and athleticism to swat shots around the rim. Watson rips down rebounds on both ends of the floor and sets good screens in the half court. He is developing a post game around the basket and can get position down low. Watson’s growth on the offensive end is something to watch as the Ghosts look to be a team to watch this season.

Piorkowski joins a good Green Knights backcourt as he looks to make an impact right away. The 5’7 guard has a lightning quick release on his jumper and can bury triples in bunches. Piorkowski has a good handle, which he uses to get into the lane to create plays. He moves exceptionally well off the ball and makes good decisions with the ball in his hands. Piorkowski’s shooting is something that will help St. Joseph (Mont.) in a big way this season.

DeDio is set for a big senior season after a strong showing at the NJ Panthers Fall Showcase. The 5’9 guard has a nice handle which he uses to get by his defender and finish around the basket. DeDio can also score in the mid-range and is capable of hitting open jumpers. He is a good passer and is a tough on-ball defender. DeDio is a gritty floor general prospect who is set for a good senior season for Wayne Valley.
David Teele David Teele 6'3" | SG Teaneck | 2023 NJ , 6’3 SG Teaneck 2023
Teele had a solid 2020-21 season and is in store for a huge 2021-22 season. The 6’3 guard has a good handle and can finish around the basket. Teele is more than just a slasher as he has a nice release on his jumper and can knock down jumpers from behind the arc. He is an underrated passer and can defend both guard positions. Teele is a skilled, two-way guard prospect who is in store for a big 2021-22 for Teaneck.
