Senior Prospects:
Andrick Santillan Andrick Santillan 6'4" | SG Cheyenne | 2022 State NV 6’4 CG Cheyenne 2022 (#23PHN 2022)
Strengths: Positional size, good instincts, willing passer that can create for others.
Questions:
(1) Can he defend perimeter players at a high level?
(2) Is he an off the ball wing or on-the-ball point?
Scouts Take: Santillan is the type of player that can impact a game regardless of his ability to score the ball. He’s more of a scorer than a shooter but has the ability to beat you with open threes. Depending on the level of offensive aggression he plays with, I could see him having success in transition and around the rim in this game.
Donavon Webster Donavon Webster 6'4" | SG Cheyenne | 2022 State NV 6’4 SG Cheyenne 2022 (#19PHN 2022)
Strengths: R&J athleticism, defensive versatility, 3pt shooting
Questions:
(1) Shooting consistency.
(2) How many positions can he defend 1 v 1?
Scouts Take: Webster is the prototypical 3 and D type player with the ability to defend multiple perimeter positions. He’s a good shooter but can be streaky at times, his improvement in that area will go a long way in determining what type of season he and the Desert Shields Have.
Stockrisers
Christopher Rodriguez Christopher Rodriguez 5'8" | PG Cheyenne | 2023 State NV 5’8 PG Cheyenne 2023 (#59PHN 2023) – Seen quite a bit of Rodriguez in grassroots competition, he always seems to play well, proving to be an accurate shooter from behind the arc. There is perhaps no more respected coach than Teral Fair, and he speaks the world of the 5’8 PG.” He’s an extremely bright basketball player and sees the floor as well as any guy I’ve ever coached” says Fair. Excited to see him in a high school game setting, to get a true understanding of his value.
Jamarion Smith Jamarion Smith 6'2" | SF Mojave | 2024 State NV 6’2 SF Mojave 2024 (#24PHN 2024) – He’s looked good for the Rattlers during Fall League action. In Mojave’s pressure defense the athletic wing has an opportunity to be a terror. A game like this could get up and down, which should suit Smith well, his ability to protect the basketball and finish in transition will go a long way to helping his stock rise.
3 Potential Breakout Players
- David Tinner 6’3 Cheyenne 2022
- Giali Chapman Giali Chapman 6'3" | CG Mojave | 2023 State NV 6’1 CG 2023 (#18PHN 2023)
- Tony Williams Tony Williams 5'11" | CG Mojave | 2024 State NV 5’11 PG Mojave 2024 (#36PHN 2024)
Top Underclassmen
CJ Shaw CJ Shaw 6'3" | SG Mojave | 2025 State #212 Nation NV 6’3 SG Mojave 2025 (#8PHN 2025) – This could be a coming-out party for the freshman. Shaw is a terrific two-way player, whose length has the potential to give the Desert Shields guards fits. Offensively he’s deceptively quick, displaying a knack for getting downhill and finishing at the rim.
