Indianapolis Tindley @ Arsenal Tech
Probably the most interesting game of the night, our Class 1A #2 team Indianapolis Tindley will travel to Class 4A #3 Arsenal Tech. The Titans began their much anticipated season with a 81-68 victory over Warren Central. Tindley opened with a huge win over International, but then fell to 1A #1 Gary 21st Century 76-70. They certainly have the talent to compete with the best in the state with the front line Jayden Pinkston Jayden Pinkston 6'6" | PF Southport | 2023 State IN , Jeffery Pinkston Jeffery Pinkston 6'5" | SF Southport | 2023 State IN , and Aaron Humphrey Aaron Humphrey 6'6" | PF Indianapolis Tindley | 2022 State IN . A talented, but smaller, backcourt will try to match the pace of Tech as well. It was a strong opener for the Titans as five guys, led by Rasheed Jones Rasheed Jones 6'6" | SF Arsenal Tech | 2022 State IN and Dayveon Turner Dayveon Turner 5'11" | PG Arsenal Tech | 2022 State IN , scored in double-figures with Matthew Spears adding nine of his own. Expect to see an up-tempo game at Tech tonight. Also, we are unsure whether or not Reggie Bass Reggie Bass 6'4" | SG Arsenal Tech | 2022 State #175 Nation IN will play tonight after sustaining an ankle injury in their first game.
Pendleton Heights @ Westfield
Purdue signee, and Mr. Basketball candidate, Braden Smith Braden Smith 6'0" | PG Westfield | 2022 State IN will begin his season this evening at home against Pendleton Heights. The Arabians lost their season-opener to Anderson 68-50. Senior backcourt duo Luke Candiano and Josiah Dunham Josiah Dunham 6'0" | PG Evansville Christian | 2024 State IN scored 17 and 14 points respectively in the loss. However, it will be 6’7″ sophomore Jamison Gustin that may be the most interesting prospect to follow. He scored 12 points and pulled down 7 rebounds in the opener and has serious upside to his game. The Rocks still shouldn’t have much of an issue getting their season started with the firepower provided by Smith and his running-mate Cameron Haffner Cameron Haffner 6'3" | SG Westfield | 2022 State IN .
Indianapolis Metropolitan @ Fishers
Metro put up a good fight in their season-opener against Class 2A #1 Linton-Stockton. Omari Ferguson Omari Ferguson 6'3" | SG Indianapolis Metropolitan | 2023 IN is one of the most explosive small school guards in the area and Quincy Stamps played great in their opener. However, the competition level takes another step up tonight against Fishers. The Tigers are sitting at 1-0 after a good 69-61 win at Ben Davis last Tuesday. This will be Metro’s third straight game against a 4A opponent to start the season. They certainly will be battled tested at the 1A level.
Fort Wayne Blackhawk @ Fort Wayne North
This will be our first look at the post Caleb Furst era at Blackhawk. The Braves open their season tonight at Fort Wayne North. Gage Sefton Gage Sefton 6'4" | SG Blackhawk Christian | 2023 State IN and Joshua Furst will look to take on much larger roles in the absence of the reigning Mr. Basketball award winner. As for North, Class of 2024 #1 prospect Brauntae Johnson Brauntae Johnson 6'2" | PG Fort Wayne North Side | 2024 IN leads the way along with junior wing Brashawn Bassett Brashawn Bassett 6'2" | SG Fort Wayne North | 2023 State IN . This will be an athletic, talented team. They lost to Lawrence North 57-45 in their first game on Saturday.
Fort Wayne Northrop @ New Haven
After coming over from Carroll, Jalen Jackson Jalen Jackson 6'2" | PG Fort Wayne Northrop | 2022 State IN has immediately made his presence known at Northrop. The Illinois-Chicago signee scored 32 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in their season-opening win over DeKalb. He followed it up with 20 points in a loss to Brownsburg on Saturday. New Haven is 0-1 after a tough 67-65 loss to Woodlan. Jakar Williams had a big double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds while Darrion Brooks Darrion Brooks 6'5" | SF New Haven | 2023 State IN added 22 points. This will be an interesting early season matchup between talented Fort Wayne programs.
