Expect them to begin to rise in ranks and start getting some attention from the next level! Be on the lookout for my other articles on the 2022, 2023 and 2024 athletes!
Nicholas Guereca Nicholas Guereca 6'2" Lamar | 2024 TX 2024 Combo Guard/ Wing 6’3 Lamar High School
Nicholas is a combo guard with great length and motor. He is a tenacious on-ball defender who has a knack for poking the ball free and making his opponents uncomfortable. His long arms wreak havoc on both ends of the floor. He looks like he is not done growing, and flies around the court after loose balls and rebounds. He showed an ability to space the floor and knock down open looks and is great with a live dribble. I would like to see him slow down without the ball, and work on cutting and finding weak spots in the defense with his movement. Guereca looks like a very strong prospect who should garner attention over the next few years.
Jakari Davis Jakari Davis 6'2" Shallowater | 2024 TX 2024 Wing 6’2 Shallowater High School
Jakari is an aggressive player who thrives at fighting through contact and finishing at the rim. He is elite at adjusting his speed and changing his pace when beating defenders in the full court and when trying to turn the corner on an on-ball defender. His athleticism was on full display as he made plays all around the court. He was able to seemingly finish every shot at the rim and his explosiveness and ability to strike fear into his opponents in the paint really stood out. I would like to see him work on getting his shot off the dribble, especially after changing his pace. It will require lots of hours taking shots off the bounce at different speeds and angles, but he has all the tools to become successful at the next level.
Bryson McGlothin Bryson McGlothin 6'7" | SF John Paul II | 2024 State TX 2024 Wing 6’4 Heath High School
Bryson is a sophomore who really caught my eye during his time on the floor. He possesses great length with an ability to race up and down the field and compete on both ends. He is a very fluid athlete who looks to move with ease. He is a reliable finisher in transition and thrives as a rim running wing. He has an ability to knock down shots from the wings and the corners to space the floor and possesses an ability to put the ball on the floor and score in the lane. I would like to see continued development with his shot off the dribble, especially in the midrange where he could become an even deadlier weapon on offense. His ability to run and move his feet should be a good indicator that he has the potential to translate into a high-level defender as well.
Chas Biegel Chas Biegel 6'6" | CG Lake Travis | 2024 TX 2024 Wing 6’5 Lake Travis High School
Chas is a fluid athlete with a great ability to knock down shots from all around the midrange. He is very comfortable off the catch, especially off the pick and pop. He is a great finisher in the paint and is very strong when heh as the ball on the block. He is good at using his frame to bully smaller defenders into getting to his spots. I would like to see him work on his ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim, especially after he begins to knock down shots from the outside and defenses focus on his shot making ability.
Devon Craig Devon Craig 6'2" Lonestar | 2024 TX 2024 Wing 6’2 Lonestar High School
Devon is a skilled player who looks like he is not done growing. He has a good set shot from all around the arc when given the time to set his feet and square his shoulders. I would like to see him work on his ability to attack the pick and roll as a screener. There were plenty of opportunities where he could have popped out to get an open shot in the midrange or behind the arc. I would also like to see him work on opening towards his guard so he can always be ready to receive a pass.
