The fourteenth annual Nor Cal Tip Off Classic is slated for Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Dublin High School in the Bay Area. This report takes a look at the class of 2023 standouts who will be playing.
6’5 Shooting Guard Courtney Anderson Courtney Anderson 6'4" | SG Dublin | 2023 State #151 Nation CA-N Jr. of Dublin HS
Anderson is an elite level two-guard with a unique combination of skills and athleticism. He routinely elevates and finishes over defenders. He’s a good shooter with 3 range and he has a nice floater. His best asset is his exceptional pull-up game in the half-court. Anderson is a high major prospect with pro potential.
5’9 Point Guard Ryan Beasley Ryan Beasley 5'11" | PG Dougherty Valley | 2023 State #228 Nation CA-N of Dougherty Valley HS (San Ramon)
Beasley is an aggressive one-man who plays in attack mode. He’s a confident ball-handler and a good passer who can run a team. He has a pretty good feel and is a solid decision-maker for the most part. Beasley is a low major prospect.
6’7 Post Jordan Bobo Jordan Bobo 6'7" | SF Grant | 2023 State CA-N of Grant HS (Sacramento)
Bobo is a member of the All-Dow Jones team for rising stock. The more you watch him the more you like him. He’s fairly athletic with long arms and is a versatile all-around scorer. He’s also a good rebounder and defender (who can block a shot). Bobo belongs on the mid-major radar.
6’0 Point Guard Donovan Cooks Donovan Cooks 6'1" | PG Dublin | 2023 State CA-N of Dublin HS
Cooks is an athletic point guard who is very unselfish. He’s an excellent passer who will find the open man and get him the ball. He shoots the ball well with range (catch and shoot), has a nice floater and gets to the hoop on the drive. Cooks is a low major prospect.
6’2 Combo Guard BJ Davis BJ Davis 6'2" | CG Modesto Christian | 2023 State #182 Nation CA-N of Modesto Christian HS
Davis is a freaky athletic combo guard who has had his coming-out party in recent months. His high-level athleticism and solid skills set him apart from others. He’s very effective in transition and scores from all three levels in the half court. Davis is a mid plus D1 prospect worth higher consideration.
5’9 Point Guard Ahmarea Muhammad of Oakland Tech HS
Muhammad (legal name changed from McCullough) is a transfer from St. Joseph’s – Notre Dame who will make Oakland Tech a better team for sure. He is an athletic and competitive one man who pushes the break consistently. He handles and passes it well and makes a ton of plays on the run. He shoots it confidently with long-range and is a very effective driver/penetrator with a nice first step. He’s also a solid on-ball defender who will harass the man he is guarding. Muhammad is not big in size, but he plays big and is a solid low major prospect.
6’4 Wing Rostand Olama Abanda of Woodside Priory HS (Portola Valley)
Olama Abanda is an athletic wingman who can impact the game at both ends of the floor. He’s a capable driver with a nice first step and shows some ability to post up. His perimeter shot does need some work. He is an aggressive on-ball defender who makes things difficult for his opponent. Olama Abanda is a Division I Prospect if his shot comes along.
6’8 Post Prince Oseya Prince Oseya 6'10" | C Modesto Christian | 2023 State CA-N of Modesto Christian HS
Oseya is an intriguing postman with a real nice upside. He’s fairly athletic with real long arms and is developing his game offensively. He’s a solid defender who can black shots and is a capable rebounder. Oseya will be a Division I player – it’s just a question of what level he ends up at.
5’7” Point Guard Tayo Sobomehin of Woodside Priory HS (Portola Valley)
Sobomehin is an energetic and athletic one man with real nice burst. He’s a smooth handler who pushes the envelope on the fast break. He shoots the ball well with range and can nail it off the dribble or catch and shoot. He has a nice floater and a solid first step on the drive. Sobomehin plays with a lot of confidence and merits Division I consideration.
6’1” Point Guard King-Jihsani Wilhite of Riordan HS (San Francisco)
Wilhite is an ultra-athletic one-man with acceleration and burst. He can really turn on the jets. He’s a good passer who is very effective in transition making pays for himself and others. He’s a big-time scorer who shoots and drives well and is a very difficult matchup Wilhite is a mid/mid-plus prospect.
