Trey Thompson 2022 6’1 Reagan High School
Trey is a special two way combo guard who was one of the main reason’s Reagan was able to make the championship game. He effected the game in a plethora of ways, whether he was getting steals and going coast to coast, setting up his back court running mate Jackson Adams (2022) for open looks or getting to his shot beyond the arc or in the mid-range. He is a crafty finisher at the rim and knows how to contort his body to avoid contact. He has a nice touch floater that he can get over taller defenders. Thompson was a very impressive player at the tournament and I am excited to see how far Reagan can go with this special senior back court they have.
Calen Hampton 2022 6’0 Desoto High School
Calen is a sharp shooting combo guard with the ability to score in bunches from a plethora of different ways. He is a fearless attacker of the rim in full court and plays aggressive on ball defense and came up with steals to jump start the fast break for his team. He scores with ease from the mid-range whenever the defense comes out hard to contest. He is a consistent shooter from the three point line and the mid-range and is capable of creating for his teammates when he attacks the basket. He always seems to have his head up when he attacks the rim in the half court he always seems to pick the right cross court pass to his open shooters.
Braxton Burdick Braxton Burdick 6'4" | SG Boerne-Champion | 2022 State TX 2022 6’4 Boerne Champion High School
Braxton is a hard working combo guard who thrives at all three levels of the floor. He did not shoot well from the outside this tournament, but was able to affect the game in a plethora of other ways such as attacking the basket at a high level or finding his cutting teammates. He has great vision for his size and has the ability to have the entire offense run through him if need be. I would like to see him work on developing his mid-range game, especially off the bounce.
Joseph McCray 2022 6’0 Shoemaker High School
Joseph is an elite on ball defender who had a knack for poking the ball free, blocking shots and forcing turnovers. I loved seeing him work on that end of the floor, he has a natural nose for the ball and affected the game so much on the defensive end of the floor. He played the passing lanes well and got steals on the ball. He is an aggressive attacker in the paint, and finishes very well at the rim. I would like to see him work on his ability to get to his shot off the bounce or be a more consistent spot up shooter.
Dymiir Haney 2022 6’0 Taft High School
Dymiir is an athletic combo guard with a real ability to score in the paint. He is a fearless attacker of the rim and is not afraid to jump over and through defenders. I loved seeing him work out his defenders with his handle and attack the basket fearlessly. He is capable of scoring in heavy traffic, even with bigs involved. He is a patient scorer in the midrange, and really takes what the defense gives him every time down. He has an ability to get to his spots with a live dribble and rise over defenders.
