Kai Chester (MVP) 2022 5’11 Desoto High School
Kai is one of the best undersized guards I have seen play in a long time. His ability to score at all three level was impressive, however his on-court leadership, energy and drive is what really separates him from other point guards. He is vocal on both ends of the floor and has a calming presence when he has the ball in his hands. He has the ability to make every pass on the floor in both the half court and full court, and routinely made crisp cross court passes that set up his teammates for easy looks. He has the ability to score off the bounce at a very high level, especially beyond the arc. He seems to explode vertically and releases it at a high point which allows him to offset his high difference. Chester was voted MVP at the 2021 San Antonio Spurs High School Showcase as he led his team to a championship win and Desoto’s Head Coach Richard Bacon his 1,000 victory as a coach.
Ahmir Wall 2023 6’4 Desoto High School
Ahmir is a stud athlete with an ability to explode to the rim and finish through contact. I was very impressed at his ability to fight through contact and finish consistently. His explosiveness allows him to hang in the air and change his shot angle if he needs to at the rim. He truly has a wiggle to his game when he is attacking the rim going downhill as well. He always seems to slither out of contact and into open spaces in the paint. I would like to see him continue to work on his set shot and getting to his spots beyond the arc with a live dribble. He has a consistent mid-range game already, and as he continues to add that third level to his game he will become a dangerous option for Coach Bacon to develop into a high level player. Wall was voted to the All Showcase Team at the 2021 San Antonio Spurs High School Showcase as he led his team to a championship win and Desoto’s Head Coach Richard Bacon his 1,000 victory as a coach.
Jackson Adams 2022 Guard 6’4 Reagan High School
Jackson is a sniper from beyond the arc. He displayed an ability to score at will despite intense defense and him being his team’s main offensive weapon. He attacks the basket at a high level as well, however his main damage is normally done beyond the arc. He displayed an ability to get to his midrange jumper at will as well and even had a soft touch floater he got to at will. I would like to see him continue to develop his overall vision and ability to create for his teammates, especially as he draws more offensive attention. Adams was voted to the All Showcase Team at the 2021 San Antonio Spurs High School Showcase as he led his team to a second place performance in a double overtime loss to Desoto High School.
Antwone Gonzales Antwone Gonzales 6'2" | CG Killeen Shoemaker | 2022 State TX 2022 Combo Guard 6’2 Shoemaker High School
Antwone is an impressive athlete with an ability to dominate at all three levels. He is an aggressive finisher in the paint and is very quick when getting downhill. He scores with ease off the dribble and displayed some very impressive difficult shot making. He scored at an impressive clip when changing his shot angles and fading away from defenders from the mid-range and beyond the arc. I would like to see him look to get the best shot every time down the court more consistently. He has the ability to score in nearly every spot on the floor, he will become an elite weapon as he continues to learn when to get to those spots. Gonzales was voted to the All Showcase Team at the 2021 San Antonio Spurs High School Showcase as he led his team to a quarter finals appearance and led the entire tournament in scoring per game.
Jaylen Corcker- Johnson 2023 6’7 Warren High School
Jaylen is an impressive player who knows how to use his size and strength to his advantage. He dominates in the paint on both ends of the floor and has an impressive amount of agility for his size. I was blown away by his ability to run the floor as a rim runner or as the primary ball handler. He consistently made the right reads every time down the floor. He scored at a consistent rate in the mid-range and beyond the arc which allowed the paint to be that much more open for him to dominate later in the game. Corcker- Johnson was voted to the All Showcase Team at the 2021 San Antonio Spurs High School Showcase and finished as the fourth highest scoring player in the tournament per game.
