Both High School and Middle School gyms were hosting games throughout the day. Our staff focused on the varsity games played in the High School Gym. A special thank you to Coach Campbell and his Bourbon County coaching staff for putting this event together! We’ve split our recap into four sections: Recap Pt. 1 & Recap Pt. 2, and Top Performers: Guards & Top Performers: Wings/Forwards.
Top Performers ~ Guards
Dante Hayden Dante Hayden 5'11" | CG Danville | 2022 State KY – Danville
Hayden plays with the type of confidence that a multi-year starter should possess. He embodies the role of a lead guard and is the hardest worker on the court. He has all the tools to become an elite defender. He does a tremendous job locating the basketball and has active hands in passing lanes. Throughout the game, he let his offensive game evolve; rarely forcing the issue. He can score at all three levels and attracts a lot of attention off the ball. Hayden is a top 100 player in the 2022 class.
Jordan Blythe Jordan Blythe 5'11" | PG Frankfort | 2023 State KY – Frankfort
Blythe is a shifty, elusive guard that is looking to press the issue to the paint. He had several right and left-handed finishes in traffic. He didn’t see many outside shots fall on Saturday, but we expect his shot to find consistency. He played the top line for the Panther’s press defense and did a great job of trailing the ball looking for deflections and steals. Blythe is a newcomer to the class of 2023 rankings.
Gavin Lutz – Cooper
Lutz is a lefty that uses his height and length to create space for his shot. Although he is not the primary point guard, Lutz is a willing playmaker that can zip the ball at any angle on the court. Lutz is currently an unranked junior but capable of making moves in the first month of the season.
Kanye Henderson Kanye Henderson 6'3" | SG Henry Clay | 2022 State KY – Henry Clay
Henderson was the highest-ranked player at the event inside the top 50. He has speed and athleticism in the open court that is virtually impossible to contain. He had the highlight of the day with a thunderous dunk over a late-arriving defender. If he can achieve more consistency in his open shots, Henderson has the potential to lead the 11th region in scoring. Look for Henderson to climb up the rankings.
Jake Gross – Campbell County
Gross is also unranked, but shouldn’t be for too much longer. He is a solid playmaker that does a great job of setting his teammates up for good looks. Gross has an effortless stroke and has the potential to get hot from deep at any moment. There are a lot of great guards in the 10th region so Gross will have weekly opportunities to measure his skills against other elite players.
