During the fall there are a ton of great showcases that have given these young guys the chance to get their name out there. Here are some of the top underclassmen to look out for this upcoming season.
Anthony Nettles- 5’8 PG, Douglas County ’25
Younger brother of Ty Nettles Ty Nettles 5'10" | SG Douglas County | 2022 State CO , Anthony Nettles has been one of the most impressive freshmen in the state. Both of the Nettles brothers are straight hustlers. This fall Anthony showed that he does not back down from any competition, on the defensive end he plays with a chip on his shoulder and uses his quickness and low center of gravity to get underneath opposing guards. Then on the offensive end, he uses that quickness and tight handles to get downhill and attack the bucket. Anthony has huge upside, especially if he keeps that same grittiness on the court that he brings.
Doren Sacha Doren Sacha 6'2" Thomas Jefferson | 2024 CO – 6’2 CG, Thomas Jefferson ’24
Doren Sacha Doren Sacha 6'2" Thomas Jefferson | 2024 CO has been a name we have heard for a while and he has come out hot this fall, being a presence where ever he has been playing. Doren is an athletic guard who thrives when he is near the rim. He has been one of the best finishers around the rim regardless of class, when at the rim he loves to tap out over defenders or finish through contact. For a sophomore Doren has a swagger and confidence to his game that you do not see from many players his age. He uses his confidence and athleticism to get some sneaky chase-down blocks, love the hustle. Then on the offensive end, Doren has developed point guard skills, he has looked very comfortable with the ball in his hands in pick and roll situations.
Reid Finch Reid Finch 6'6" | PF Rock Canyon | 2024 State CO – 6’5 F, Rock Canyon ’24
Reid Finch Reid Finch 6'6" | PF Rock Canyon | 2024 State CO is a forward who standouts with his size alone. He stands at a real 6’5 and is built like a football linebacker. This allows him to dominate against players his age, as he can just move them out of the way. Against older competition, he also holds his own down low, using his wide frame to box out defenders and pull down rebounds. While he battles well down low he is a combo forward who can play on the outside as well. He has a nice stroke from mid-range and can stretch the floor to three-point land. Reid is a player with high upside and most definitely a young guy to look out for.
Dominic Martinez- 6’0 G, Denver South ’25
Dominic Martinez has been one of my favorite guards to watch as he does all of the small things on the floor. For a freshman, Dominic has a great sense of the game. He keeps his composure as a point guard when older players try to pressure him. Dominic is also an all-around player who does not mind grabbing boards and taking on defensive match-ups. On the defensive end, he is a hustler, he has had multiple blocks that I just wondered “how did he get that block?” Dominic also has great hands and is a pickpocket, this causes multiple fastbreaks which he has no problem finishing at the rim or drawing in the defense to dish off the ball to an open teammate.
