Not much has changed since our initial rankings that were posted in the summer, but we added some new names to our list and switched up some minor details in the order. With that being said, let’s take a look at what’s new in the rankings.
At the top, Tyler McKinley Tyler McKinley 6'9" | PF Winton Woods | 2024 State #78 Nation OH keeps his top spot. McKinley has been one of the hottest prospects in the Midwest for the 2024 class and I’m a huge fan of McKinley, his ability to pass and his soft hands are special for his age. McKinley has improved his scoring ability and was a great interior presence for All Ohio Red 15U in the EYBL. Behind McKinley are two lead guards, Jacob Theodosiou Jacob Theodosiou 6'4" | PG Western Reserve Academy | 2024 #146 Nation OH and Calvin Little Calvin Little 6'2" | PG Garfield Heights | 2024 State OH . Theodosiou impressed playing for the Canadian national team in the FIBA America’s 16U championships, shooting 52% from 3-point range in the tournament. Little is an excellent athlete who looked comfortable playing at the rapid pace that EYBL teams play at this July.
Moving to the fourth spot, Raleigh Burgess Raleigh Burgess 6'10" | C Sycamore | 2024 State #130 Nation OH is one of the more under the radar prospects because he doesn’t play for a shoe circuit travel team and didn’t make an impact on varsity as a freshman. I expect big things from Burgess as a Sophomore, pairing him up with Ben Southerland Ben Southerland 6'7" | PF Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy | 2022 State #247 Nation OH to form the biggest 1-2 punch in SW Ohio.
At spots 5-7 a trio of wings are all incredibly close right now. I gave the slight nod to Jonathan Powell Jonathan Powell 6'5" | SG Centerville | 2024 State #164 Nation OH because he performed at the state final four and was solid for All Ohio Red. Colin White Colin White 6'5" | SG Ottawa Glandorf | 2024 State #156 Nation OH is another stud, he could put up huge numbers for Ottawa-Glandorf as a Sophomore. Finally, Mason Shrout Mason Shrout 6'4" | SF Preble Shawnee | 2024 State OH put up insane scoring numbers as a Freshman and brought his scoring talent to the EYBL, showing he isn’t just capable of dominating small school competition.
Prep Hoops will have you covered with more info on all of the top prospects in the 2024 class as the weeks move on to help you get ready for the upcoming high school basketball season.
