These players will either continue playing the sport they fell in love with at the next level or move on to equally exciting things. However, the class of 2024 in the next year or two will be the new must-watch players. As they continue to grow as better players and take over the high school scene remember these names.
Max Howery Max Howery 6'0" | PG Air Academy | 2024 State CO | 6’1″ PG | St. Mary’s High School
13.1 PPG | 4.7 APG | 3.4 RPG | 3.8 SPG |
A name that may sound vaguely familiar. Max is the younger brother of the promising senior prospect, Sam Howery Sam Howery 6'1" | PG St. Mary’s | 2022 State CO . In his first year at Saint Mary’s, he helped found the dynamic backcourt duo with his brother. Like his brother, he plays just as well on the defensive end as he does on offense. No stranger from shooting a high percentage from anywhere inside the three-point line, Max uses his body to create a contact that gives him enough space to get a shot off. This kid has a natural feel for the game like his stat line suggests. Expect him to become more of a facilitator since defenses will prioritize him when his brother is off the court. Saint Mary should be thrilled they have a young point guard who takes care of the ball especially for how many minutes he plays.
Treyton Fletcher Treyton Fletcher 6'6" | PF Littleton | 2024 State CO | 6’4″ SF | Littleton High School
8.9 PPG | 4.2 RPG | 1.3 SPG | 0.8 BPG |
Struggling to find success in recent years, Littleton High School has seemed to found one of the more intriguing freshmen last year. Typically freshmen do not shoot very well at the varsity level, but he was an exception despite his free throws. The 6’4 sophomore has a knack to read passes to secure steals. Four turnovers a game is not what is expected, but the turnovers come from mistakes that he can afford to make now and learn from. Overall, he looks comfortable shooting the ball and is willing to force turnovers by putting himself in positions to take a charge.
Colin Hendrickson | 6’4″ SF/PF | Clear Creek High School
11.2 PPG | 4.7 RPG | 0.8 SPG | 3P%: 38 |
Not the main focal point of the offense which allows him to get easy buckets. This kid continues to have growth spurts which make us believe he could grow to around 6’8. The one pet peeve about his game is his willingness to settle for threes rather than getting easy buckets around the rim. As he gets older and develops more knowledge about the game he will have a better judgment on where to place himself to score more efficiently. Although he did shoot well from three, the belief is that he will be a monster in the low-post and anywhere 10 feet in from the basket. The next step in his game is to find ways to get to the free-throw line more as he shot 9/10 this season.
Amari Williams | 6’1″ Combo Guard | Swallows Charter Academy
13.8 PPG | 6.1 RPG | 3.2 SPG | 1.3 BPG |
Addressing the elephant in the room, he did not shoot as well as he could have his freshman year. From what I saw there is room for improvement when it comes to shooting with more confidence which will undoubtedly make him more of a scoring threat. 13.8 ppg as a freshman does catch people’s attention when the ball goes in more than not. For Amari, the goal is to work on his three-point shot and not force any unnecessary shots. The pattern of play from his team indicates that he will get more shot attempts this upcoming year which he could benefit from. He is a bit trigger-happy at times, but with him averaging 3 steals a game it’s hard not to see this guy turn into a great 3 & D player.
