Ball handling is always at a premium at such gathers of elite talent. But these five guys stood out as some of the top ball handlers at the Expo (in alphabetical order):
Seth Clark Seth Clark 6'2" | SG Junction City | 2022 State KS , Team 2, 6-foot-2 guard, 2022, Junction City:
Clark has become sort of a scout’s favorite this summer, playing with an infectious flair and shooting the lights out. His ability comes as no surprise – he was a 3-point specialist for the Blue Jays last year. But he has really shown off a special touch, and range, this summer, catching the eye of lots of observers.
Jacob Fritz Jacob Fritz 6'3" | CG Blue Valley Northwest | 2024 State KS , Team 2, 6-foot-3 forward, 2024, Blue Valley Northwest:
Team 2 was blessed with some incredible offensive talent. Fritz gave them some solid shooting in the mid-range, pulling up for jumpers and getting in close. But he also showed some great range. His will be a name to remember.
Brady Klotz Brady Klotz 6'4" | SF Royal Valley | 2022 State KS , Team 12, 6-foot-4 forward, 2022, Royal Valley:
Klotz doesn’t really have the look of an elite shooter. He’s built more like a defensive end, and he’s about that intimidating in the lane. But man did Klotz fill it up from deep during the Expo. He hit eight 3’s in one battle. That’s right. Eight. His ability to battle in the post and shoot from deep make him a somewhat unique senior.
Garrett Robertson Garrett Robertson 5'10" | PG Hutchinson | 2023 State KS , Team 11, 5-foot-10 guard, 2023, Hutchinson:
Robertson has built a reputation as a slick ball handler and quarterback of an offense. But this summer, his shooting has drawn rave reviews. He was on again at the Expo, knocking down shots at a high rate. His shooting talent allows him to team effectively with other fine point guards.
Jace Steinmetz Jace Steinmetz 6'3" | SF Garden City | 2023 State KS , Team 8, 6-foot-4 forward, 2023, Garden City (pictured):
Shot it from deep and in the mid-range. Steinmetz has established himself this summer as one of the top shot makers on the club circuit. He uses his physical strength, as well as his length, to create separation and get off his smooth stroke. Watch for this guy to take a big step forward for the Buffaloes.
