After a solid freshman year on varsity, Judah Casaus Judah Casaus 6'0" | SG Del Norte | 2023 State NM took his game to another level in his sophomore year for the Del Norte Knights. In his freshman year, he received important playing time most freshmen wouldn’t get and he made the most of it. He helped Del Norte make the state tournament and got past the 1st round before losing to Highland in the second round. Judah Casaus Judah Casaus 6'0" | SG Del Norte | 2023 State NM and the Knights were just beginning to taste what was ahead of them. This following season, Judah averaged 13.6 points per game, 3.5 assists per game, and 2.2 steals per game. He quickly became one of the best in the Class of 2023 and one of the state’s best up and coming players and is arguably the best two-way player on both sides of the ball with his defense that can match up with any position. His play helped guide Del Norte to its 1st Basketball State Championship in school history where he contributed with 15 points in the championship game vs Artesia. Even after the season, Judah hasn’t taken any breaks on basketball and has continued working on his game this past summer and that will help Del Norte’s quest at going back to back this year in 4A.
Alexis Dominguez Alexis Dominguez 5'10" | PG Highland | 2023 NM – 5’10 Guard “Highland” Class of 2023
One of the most underrated guards and most slept on players in New Mexico is Alexis Dominguez Alexis Dominguez 5'10" | PG Highland | 2023 NM from Highland High School. After not much experience on the varsity level his freshman year, he raised some eyebrows from many in the community with his consistent play running the show at the point guard position. He was one of the state’s most consistent point guard’s this past season averaging 13.5 points per game and 4 assists per game. In a shortened Covid season he helped guide Highland to a 7-3 regular-season record and land the 8th seed in the state tournament. Despite losing to the number one seeded Del Norte Knight in 4A, it is clear that after a busy off-season in the summer, Alexis Dominguez Alexis Dominguez 5'10" | PG Highland | 2023 NM and Highland High School are ready to run things back for the 2021-22 season.
Nick Sanchez Nick Sanchez 5'11" | PG Artesia | 2023 State NM – 5’9 Guard “Artesia” Class of 2023
The Class of 2023 is loaded with talented prospects and that includes Nick Sanchez Nick Sanchez 5'11" | PG Artesia | 2023 State NM from Artesia High School. There is a number of other great guards in this class and Nick Sanchez Nick Sanchez 5'11" | PG Artesia | 2023 State NM is right there with them. During a Covid shortened season that was tough for all the coaches and players, Nick Sanchez Nick Sanchez 5'11" | PG Artesia | 2023 State NM didn’t make any excuses to showcase his game this past year. As a sophomore, he averaged 13 points per game and just about 5 assists per game for the #2 seed Artesia in the 4A Class. During the course of the entire season he had great games vs Lovington and Goddard where he scored 18 points against both schools. In the championship game versus the #1 seeded Del Norte Knights, Nick Sanchez Nick Sanchez 5'11" | PG Artesia | 2023 State NM scored 21 points and went back and forth with Del Norte’s stars Shane Douma-Sanchez Shane Douma-Sanchez 6'0" | PG Del Norte | 2023 State NM and Judah Casaus Judah Casaus 6'0" | SG Del Norte | 2023 State NM . Despite the loss, Nick Sanchez Nick Sanchez 5'11" | PG Artesia | 2023 State NM gained everyone’s respect and attention that afternoon and will be fun to watch this season.
Javier Mendoza Javier Mendoza 5'11" | SG Atrisco Heritage | 2022 State NM – 6’2 Forward “Atrisco Heritage” Class of 2022
Atrisco Heritage Forward Javier Mendoza Javier Mendoza 5'11" | SG Atrisco Heritage | 2022 State NM had a great junior year campaign where he had a major impact in his school going 8-2 in the regular season, in the toughest basketball district in New Mexico. After a number of great seniors graduating the year before and winning two straight back to back state championships, Javier Mendoza Javier Mendoza 5'11" | SG Atrisco Heritage | 2022 State NM wanted to help Atrsico Heritage continue that winning culture. His numbers increased across the board which helped Atrisco get the #4 seed in the 5A Class. He is easily one of the states best mid range shooters and has a great floater around the rim. After defeating Sandia in the 1st round of the state tournament, Javier Mendoza Javier Mendoza 5'11" | SG Atrisco Heritage | 2022 State NM dropped 26 points in the Semi Finals on the road against Cleveland (Rio Rancho) the number one ranked team in the 5A Class. Despite the loss, Javier Mendoza Javier Mendoza 5'11" | SG Atrisco Heritage | 2022 State NM delivered in the biggest game of the year and Atrisco Heritage must be excited to see what he can do this year in his senior year.
Colby Wade Colby Wade 6'5" | PF Atrisco | 2022 State NM – 6’5 Center “Atrsico Heritage” Class of 2022
Atrisco Heritage big man Colby Wade Colby Wade 6'5" | PF Atrisco | 2022 State NM had a breakout year just like teammate Javier Mendoza Javier Mendoza 5'11" | SG Atrisco Heritage | 2022 State NM . As the season progressed, Colby Wade Colby Wade 6'5" | PF Atrisco | 2022 State NM became one of the top big men in New Mexico with his scoring around the rim, great dunking ability and his work protecting the rim by blocking shots. Before the start of this past season, Colby Wade Colby Wade 6'5" | PF Atrisco | 2022 State NM got in the gym and got stronger to deal with the physicality of other big men inside the paint. Colby Wade Colby Wade 6'5" | PF Atrisco | 2022 State NM increased his playing time, points, rebounds and blocks per game and has be considered of of the top big men prospects heading into the 2021-22 season.
