Prep Hoops Predictions:
1.Scott’s Branch HS (Summerton) – The Eagles have played in the past 2 SCHSL Class 1A State Championship Games.
2.CE Murray HS (Greeleyville) – The War Eagles like to stay off the grid and do that very well.
3.Carvers Bay HS – Head Coach Jeff Mezzatesta and his Bears squad can always be counted in the mix somewhere.
4.East Clarendon HS (Turbeville) – The Wolverines and the Tigers will battle for the 4th slot here. Upcoming Ellis Graham Ellis Graham 6'9" | PF Gray Collegiate | 2024 State #305 Nation SC (2024) is a player to watch for the Wolverines.
5.Hemingway HS – Can the Tigers get the magic back to the days of old ?
Randy Gibson Randy Gibson 6'1" | PG Scott's Branch | 2023 State SC (2023) – Scott’s Branch HS – Prep Hoops Preseason Region Player of the Year
Gibson a left-handed guard has been making a name for himself since his freshman season with the Eagles. Gibson is best when he’s in attack mode to the cup. Randy prefers to slash and drop a floater time after time to the basket. He must work on his perimeter shooting for down the road. Randy brings a blue collar mentality to the floor at all times whenever he plays the game.
Can the Eagles make it back to the Class 1A State Championship Game again this season ? The Eagles lost to Southside Christian last season for the State Title.
Tevin Young Tevin Young 5'8" | PG Carvers Bay | 2022 State SC (2022) – Carvers Bay HS
Young really likes to fly all over the floor with his quickness. Tevin a left-handed water-bug at times really likes to play 94 feet and bring chaos to the table at times. Young averaged 10.7 ppg last season for the Bears.
Zakee Rendell Zakee Rendell 6'4" | SF Scott's Branch | 2022 State SC (2022) – Scott’s Branch HS
Rendell a wiry and long forward has a great wingspan. Zakee tends to be active in the passing lanes but really likes to shy away from contact. Rendell is currently playing football for the Eagles.
Montrez Sinkler Montrez Sinkler 6'3" | SF Scott's Branch | 2022 State SC (2022) – Scott’s Branch HS
Montez tends to do his best work around the cup and inside the paint. Sinkler really has no true position on the floor for the Eagles.
Henry Evans Henry Evans 6'4" | SF Kingstree | 2023 State SC (2023) – CE Murray HS
Evans is currently playing wide receiver for the War Eagles football teams. Henry has good size to play in the backcourt and all the tools to be a player down the road. Prep Hoops first Evans play as a 8th grader when making his debut with the War Eagles. Evans played some this past summer on the Grassroots Circuit but went in and out with playing and taking time off.
Ellis Graham Ellis Graham 6'9" | PF Gray Collegiate | 2024 State #305 Nation SC (2024) – East Clarendon HS
Graham is just a sophomore and a great run-jump-athlete on the floor. Ellis can change a game on both ends of the floor with his quick leaping ability. Graham has the ability to alter and challenge shots on the defensive end of very quickly. Ellis will step-out and knockdown the mid-range jumper at times. Ellis averaged 9 rebounds last season for the Wolverines. Look for Ellis who is ranked #3 in the 2024 Palmetto State Class to have a breakout season this year.
Tony Bell Tony Bell 5'5" | PG Carvers Bay | 2023 State SC (2023) – Carvers Bay HS
Bell is not very big in height at all time. Tony leaves no stone unturned while on the floor. Bell currently plays football for the Bears and has recorded 15 receptions this season.
Tyrek Brown Tyrek Brown 6'0" | PG Hemingway | 2022 State SC (2022) – Hemingway HS
Brown hopes to get the Tigers into the playoffs this coming season. Hemingway HS has been down on the numbers the past few seasons. Can things change this year for the traditionally strong program from Williamsburg County ?
