Price HS has been hosting a fall league each weekend and I was able to check it out on Saturday 10/9. There was plenty of talent in the building and here’s a quick look at some additional top standouts I saw.
1. Braxton Wachholtz – Price 2024
I don’t believe I saw Wachholtz score a single point in the game he played, but he was made a big impact. What stood out the most to me was his hustle plays. He dives after loose balls, he fights on the glass and boxes out well, he gets a hand on every loose ball and keeps possessions alive. Defensively, he switches well on the perimeter. Sets solid screens. In transition, he looks up and passes the ball ahead. Just makes plays that contribute to winning.
2. Aaron Powell – Campbell Hall 2024
Powell is a very good point guard prospect. He’s solid in halfcourt sets. He’s a great passes and looks for his open teammates. He’s got good court vision in transition. He pushes the ball ahead and keeps his head up. His passes are crisp and get where it’s intended. He has a solid off the dribble game. He can go coast to coast on the break and he’s a strong finisher at the rim.
3. Isaiah Chappell Isaiah Chappell 6'9" | PF South Kent | 2023 State #278 Nation CA-S – Crossroads 2023
This was my second time seeing Chappell play and what stood out the most to me this time around was his passing ability. He sees the floor like a guard and makes some really solid passes especially out of the defense. Good passer out of the post. He’s got good size and he’s still young. He can make a move off the dribble and he has shooting range out to the three-point line. He definitely has some high upside.
4. Cameron Butler – Price 2022
Butler’s shot was a little off in the first half of the game I saw him, but he picked it up a bit in the second half. He’s good moving without the ball and getting catch and shoot opportunities. In the second half, I saw more of his slashing game and ability to get to the rim. He does a good job drawing the defense when he gets into the paint and finding his bigs around the rim. He is a natural scorer but he looks to make the right pass to open teammates.
