Continue ReadingWe continue our look at the top performers from Sunday’s PrepHoops Top 250 Expo and there were several guys in attendance that were able to be “glue guys” – players that didn’t necessarily have flash in their game but were key contributors, many with simply their hustle, motor, and defense when they were on the court. Here’s a look at some of the top ones we saw.
Keshav Anand Keshav Anand 6'4" | PF Westview | 2022 State OR (2022 Westview) – Anand was simply solid all day at the Expo. The 6-foot-4 senior made the extra pass, hit the boards, and knocked down the open jumper. He had his highlights too – one play in particular that stood out was a drive to the basket where he made a nice looking spin move before laying it in.
Gary Le Gary Le 5'7" | PG Churchill | 2023 State OR (2023 Churchill) – Le may only be listed at 5-foot-7 but he’s very quick and used that to his advantage on the defensive end as he was a flat-out pest on the ball. Offensively, he took good care of the basketball, got the rock to the open man, and also hit a couple of jumpers for good measure.
Ty Weiskind Ty Weiskind 6'4" | SF Churchill | 2022 State OR (2022 Churchill) – Rocking an 80s style mullet-like hairstyle, Weiskind was more than just looks. The senior played with a great motor on both ends of the floor and wasn’t afraid to get physical. He converted some tough buckets driving to the hole and really gave an all-out effort all day.
Jeremiah Stigler Jeremiah Stigler 6'1" | CG Jefferson | 2023 State OR (2023 Grant) – Stigler didn’t get a ton of touches in the action that we saw, but he didn’t lack in terms of effort given. The lefty combo guard was strong with the rock when given the chance and made his mark defensively and on the glass.
Spencer Karsseboom Spencer Karsseboom 6'3" | CG Woodburn | 2023 State OR (2023 Woodburn) – It was just a snapshot but we liked what we saw from Karsseboom. The combo guard showed some moxie with his ball-handling and passing and seemed to have a pretty good touch on his shot. He’s one to watch at the 4A level at Woodburn.
Tiger Reimann Tiger Reimann 6'0" | CG Yamhill-Carlton | 2022 State OR (2022 Yamhill-Carlton) – Reimann is a classic energy guy who may not have the height but has plenty of heart. He played hard at every opportunity and got his hands on the ball for deflections on multiple occasions. Reimann will have a huge role this season at YC as one of the lone returnees from last year’s title team.
Kaden Groenig Kaden Groenig 5'9" | PG Southridge | 2024 State OR (2025 Beaverton) – One of the youngest and smallest guys in attendance, Groenig didn’t play scared one bit. He took care of the basketball, wasn’t afraid to drive to the hoop, and also hit a few jumpers. He’s one to watch as he physically grows and matures the next few years at Beaverton.
Benjamin Chobu Benjamin Chobu 5'8" | PG Liberty | 2024 State OR (2024 TBA) – Chobu may have lacked size but he certainly didn’t lack confidence or toughness. At 5-foot-8 he fought hard underneath and really battled for some buckets over bigger players. Formerly at Liberty, it appears he will be following older brother Bogdan to attend school in Florida.
