Mason Shrout Mason Shrout 6'4" | SF Preble Shawnee | 2024 State OH , 6’4 SF Preble Shawnee 2024: Shrout was probably the leading scoring Freshman in the state? If he wasn’t, I’d like to know who beat him. Shrout first came onto my radar when he was playing up on All Ohio Red 15U in the summer of 2020. At that time, I was impressed with how Shrout worked off ball and was playing with other scorers. This grassroots season, I saw more of the primary creator role that Shrout was playing during the high school season. Don’t be fooled by the small school production, Shrout was still getting buckets in the EYBL. This is clearly one of the top prospects in the state for his class, make sure you try and catch Shrout with Preble Shawnee.
Jesse Burris Jesse Burris 6'4" | SF Delaware Hayes | 2024 State #297 Nation OH , 6’4 SF Delaware Hayes 2024: Burris shined for the Mid Ohio Pumas 15U, playing alongside Cade Norris Cade Norris 6'3" | PG Hilliard Bradley | 2024 State OH , Jason Moore Jason Moore 6'8" | C Marysville | 2024 State OH and company. His real breakthrough performance came during the first 270 Hoops proving grounds event of the fall. With about a dozen Division I level prospects, Burris was one of the best players in the gym despite being one of the only 2024 prospects invited to the event. Burris has grown up around the game, learning from big brother Paul. Burris to me is one of the most complete wing prospects in the 2024 class in Ohio.
Timothy Carpenter Timothy Carpenter 6'4" | PF Trotwood-Madison | 2024 State OH , 6’4 SF Trotwood-Madison 2024: Carpenter is a two sport stud, as he’s the quarterback for the Rams football program. Carpenter was hilariously dominant when I watched him for Team Flyght 15U on the Prep Hoops Circuit this spring. Carpenter’s physical advantages made him very hard to contain. I’d like to see Carpenter show off what he can do with the ball in his hands more this season for Trotwood. With all the young talent on their roster, I think they could be a year or two away from once again competing for a state title.
Ben Menker Ben Menker 6'5" | SF Mason | 2024 State OH , 6’4 SF Mason 2024: Menker is a prospect I’ve seen in a couple different roles and is a perfect example of why you should see players in both the high school and grassroots season. Menker has to do a lot of on-ball creation for a Mason squad that doesn’t have a lot of athletes. This allowed me to evaluate Menker’s ability to create for himself and others with the ball in his hands. Then, for Midwest Basketball Club 15U, I saw how Menker could play off the ball and next to other talented prospects his own age. I expect Menker to be one of the highest scorers in the GMC as a Sophomore.
Dorian Williams Dorian Williams 6'4" | SF Princeton | 2024 State OH , 6’4 SF Princeton 2024: Another GMC prospect, Williams is a physical wing who looks to bully defenders with his strength. Williams also showed the ability to space the floor with impressive shooting from a standstill. Williams is another prospect I’ve seen for both Princeton and for C2K. Unlike Menker, Williams had a more similar role for both teams when I saw him.
