As with any young class, a ton of attention goes on the big guys. How they develop, could be a major factor in the future of a lot of programs. In this article, we take a look at the top post players in the class of 2025.
Lonnie Bass Jr Lonnie Bass Jr 6'8" | PF Mater East | 2025 State NV . 6’6 PF Rancho (#5) (feature image) – Bass is an intriguing player that is in the midst of transitioning into a skilled 4. He moves well and has shown flashes of open-court ball skills. Currently, his best skill is his rebounding. Bass is a volume rebounder that wins more than his share of in traffic boards.
Cyrus Hutchison Cyrus Hutchison 6'6" | SF Meadows | 2025 State NV 6’5 C Meadows (#20) – I got to see quite a bit of Hutchinson this summer while playing on the PrepHoops Circuit. The 5 man has improved greatly over the past 3 months. He’s a quality defender and rebounder with an evolving offensive game. Currently, the 5 man does a good job of scoring around the basket, but he has started to show flashes of ball skills.
Kendon Jones Kendon Jones 6'6" | C Mater East | 2025 State NV 6’5 PF Rancho (#20) – “KJ” as he is known is one of the most intriguing players in the class. He combines a massive frame with nimble feet and a good skill set. Jones is comfortable playing with his back to the basket but raises eyebrows with his 3 point shooting ability.
Michael Andersen Michael Andersen 6'3" | PF Silverado | 2025 State NV 6’3 PF Silverado (#23) – Andersen is one of the top rebounders in the class. The forward plays with a relentless motor, battling larger posts for boards. His game is not limited to the inside, as he has the ability to step outside and stretch the floor. On a young Silverado squad, don’t be surprised if he is one of the more productive young players in the state.
JJ Buchanan JJ Buchanan 6'3" | SF Coronado | 2025 State NV 6’3 PF Coronado (#28) – Buchanan is the prototypical glue guy, willing to stick his nose in there for his team. He runs the floor well and has shown the ability to catch and finish in transition. I got to see him some this summer when he competed for Prep Hoops Circuit squad Hard 2 Guard.
Xavion Staton Xavion Staton 7'0" | C Sierra Vista | 2025 State #121 Nation NV 6’8 C Sierra Vista (#36) – Stratton is a project with promise. He is still learning the game but has improved in just the limited time I’ve seen him. With his size, rim protection and rebounding are obvious, however, the fact that he is an agile athlete that changes ends well is what makes him so promising. Throw in his long arms, and you have a prospect to keep an eye on.
