The strength of this class lies in the Point Guard position with several high-profile players. In this article, we take a look at some of the top Floor Generals in the new class of 2024 rankings.
DJ Thomas DJ Thomas 6'2" | PG Liberty | 2024 #19 Nation NV 6’1 Liberty (#1) – I truly believe if you have Thomas as your PG, your team has a chance to win every game. He’s a combination of a high IQ player and a high skilled player. Thomas has no problem getting others involved or taking over the game by scoring the basketball himself. In addition to his shooting and passing skills, he has improved his athleticism, showing the ability to play above the rim.
John Mobley Jr John Mobley Jr 6'0" | PG Wasatch Academy | 2024 State #55 Nation UT 5’11 Bishop Gorman (#2) – Mobley is one of the best shooters to come around in years. In addition to his catch and shoot accuracy, the PG shoots it off the bounce, and from a variety of body angles. He’s definitely a scoring PG, but his handle and wiggle provide him the opportunity to get paint touches, collapse the defense and create for others.
Jase Richardson Jase Richardson 6'3" | PG Christopher Columbus | 2026 #27 Nation FL 6’2 Bishop Gorman (#5) – While Mobley is projected as a PG, Richardson will handle the majority of the ballhandling duties for BG. The lefty is an underrated passer with good vision. He is at his best when playing in transition, as his run and jump athleticism allows him to put pressure on defenders with his speed, and use his hops to finish above the rim.
Alijah Adem Alijah Adem 6'2" | PG Spring Valley | 2024 State #174 Nation NV 6’1 Spring Valley (#7) – Adem is a stockriser. The PG has a solid handle and is a devastating shooter off the dribble. His best skill is his pace, as he never seems to be sped up and is comfortable playing both in transition, as well as in a half-court game.
Jordon Cosby Jordon Cosby 5'9" | CG Spring Valley | 2024 State NV 5’9 Spring Valley (#19) (featured image) – You could make the argument that Cosby is more of a combo, but he does have some PG skills. His best skill is his strap, as the 5’9 guard will make the list of the top shooters in the state. Cosby serves as a valuable floor spacer or additional ballhandler for SV.
Tru Coleman 5’11 Democracy Prep (#22) – I love Coleman’s grit and toughness first and foremost. The Transfer from Chicago does it on both ends of the floor, sitting down on opposing ballhandlers, and using his shiftiness to break down defenders. Coleman has the ability to get consistent paint touches, and well as create for teammates.
