Continue ReadingThe new PrepHoops C/O 2024 rankings have been released! These are our most extensive rankings to date with 50 players making the list. That list includes several players who have used their play to climb in the rankings. In this article, we take a look at some of the top stockrisers in the new class of 2024 rankings.
John Mobley Jr John Mobley Jr 6'0" | PG Wasatch Academy | 2024 State #55 Nation UT 5’11 PG Bishop Gorman 6↑ 2 – Mobley has used his shot, to shoot up the rankings. The PG is arguably the best shooter in the state, showing the ability to shoot accurately both in catch and shoot and off the bounce. While his shooting gets a ton of attention, he’s a PG because of his handle. Mobley’s 1 v 1 package includes several COD’s, allowing him to get paint touches or free himself for a jumper.
RJ Nance RJ Nance 6'2" | SG Centennial | 2024 State #313 Nation NV 5’11 CG Spring Valley 11↑ 10 – Nance moved up mostly because of his offensive package. The lefty combo guard has a nice 1 v 1 game, complete with shiftiness and blow-by ability. He is a decent shooter, but it’s his ability to change direction off the bounce that has opened eyes and led him to rising in the rankings.
Cole Ellena Cole Ellena 6'9" | C Liberty | 2024 State NV 6’9 C Liberty 12↑ – 11 – Ellena is a big man with a ton of potential. A high academic student, Ellena’s size, and rim protection are valuable already. Remember, he hasn’t played in almost two seasons so I expect him to improve as the season goes on. While only a small rise on this list, he could be just scratching the surface of his potential.
Anthony Nwuli Anthony Nwuli 6'5" | PF Durango | 2024 UT 6’5 PF Bishop Gorman 13↑ – 12 – Nwuli is one of the top blue-collar players in the state. He uses his broad shoulders and strong upper body to bang with post players, and carve out space for rebounds. Nwuli should see minutes for the 9-time defending state champs this season.
Khamari Taylor Khamari Taylor 5'11" | CG Desert Oasis | 2024 State NV 5’11 SG Sierra Vista 36↑ – 20 – When I went in to interview SV this season, Taylor made it known that his strength was on the defensive end. He wasn’t lying. Taylor is a vicious on-ball defender, that makes life miserable for opposing ballhandlers. When he’s not on the ball, he always seems to be around it, using instincts and quick hands to swipe or deflect the basketball. Offensively he has shown that not only can he turn defense to offense, but he’s also a decent shooter and good driver.
