Your PrepHoops Nebraska team was there throughout the afternoon to observe and analyze the bevy of talented players in the gym on Sunday. Here are some prospects who stood out to me thanks to their shooting from distance.
Grant Mielak Grant Mielak 6'5" | SF Lincoln Southwest | 2022 State NE – Lincoln Southwest
Mielak put on an absolute show from beyond the arch on Sunday afternoon. The 6’5 senior made sure to shine and there was a buzz in the gym thanks to some of his shooting performances in each game. He had a strong 17U summer with Nebraska Select Nannen. Mielak has a super quick and smooth release from beyond the arch and I would bet he’ll be one of the better three-point shooters in the state this coming high school season. He’s also got great length and athleticism for his size. He followed up a strong performance at the #PHTop250 by picking up an offer from NAIA Concordia the following day.
Ben Boudreau Ben Boudreau 6'0" | PG Millard South | 2023 State NE – Papillion La-Vista
I feel like I’ve heard praise for Ben Boudreau Ben Boudreau 6'0" | PG Millard South | 2023 State NE ’s shooting ability since he was in the eigth grade. The 6’1 senior was all over the court each time I watched him play on Sunday afternoon. Boudreau made most of what he did look incredibly smooth. I was impressed with his finishes in traffic against much bigger defenders, but it was his three-point shooting that helped him earn a spot on this list. There were multiple stretches in different games throughout the day where he nailed multiple threes in a row. I was thoroughly impressed with his shooting ability.
Brody Travis Brody Travis 6'2" | SG DC West | 2022 State NE – Douglas County West
Travis put up big numbers in his junior season at DC West and continued that momentum into his 17U summer with OSA Burt. Travis’ scoring ability stood out at all three levels on Sunday at the #PHTop250, but many of his makes from three made me say wow. Travis is tough as nails and competed hard all day long. He’s received interest from multiple NAIA and D3 schools in the area and more schools in the region are sure to take notice of him during his senior campaign at DC West.
Neal Mosser Neal Mosser 6'2" | SG Millard North | 2024 State NE – Millard North
The first of two youngsters to crack this list, Neal Mosser Neal Mosser 6'2" | SG Millard North | 2024 State NE made the all expo team for a reason. The 6’3 guard enters his sophomore season at Millard North with his stock continuing to rise following a strong summer with OSA 3SSB on the Adidas circuit. He did a little bit of everything throughout the day, but his bread and butter remains his strong shooting ability from deep. Mosser is one of the top names to know in Nebraska for the class of 2024. Mosser plays very smart and some may even describe his basketball IQ as well beyond his years. Look for his role to expand this winter at Millard North.
Carter Mick Carter Mick 6'2" | SG Lincoln East | 2024 State NE – Lincoln East
The second 2024 prospect to make this list is Lincoln East’s Carter Mick Carter Mick 6'2" | SG Lincoln East | 2024 State NE . The 6’2 guard plays with some strong cofidence. I liked what I saw from him this summer for Lincoln Supreme National 1. Mick has one of the quickest, purest looking jumpers I saw all summer, and he doesn’t need much time or space to get his shot up. A high volume scorer, when he’s efficient he is an absolute bucket getter. Mick has a chance for a breakout campaign at Lincoln East this coming season.
