I was in attendance at the Pacers Athletic Center all day long to see a lot of talented prospects under one roof. With a birdseye view of all four courts, I was able to take in a lot of action. On Tuesday I’ll be emptying out the notebook with everything that I saw, but let’s start with some of the top performers from the event.
Jermaine Coleman Jermaine Coleman 6'7" | SF Park Tudor | 2023 State IN (Park Tudor 2023)
When you think of Coleman typically your mind goes to the fact that he is one of the best shooters in the state of Indiana. At 6’6″-6’7″ and a sweet left-handed stroke he has a lot of tools that intrigue college coaches. However, on Sunday evening, he showed elite defensive versatility that will really take his recruitment to the next level. Coleman moves his feet well, uses his length, and can truly guard 1-5 on a given possession. It was really impressive to watch.
Anthony Dancler Anthony Dancler 6'2" | SG Southport | 2023 State IN (Southport H.S. 2023)
If you are looking for a breakout star this high school season, Dancler is high up on that list. The 6’1″ point guard already holds a couple of Division I offers with plenty of interest right now as well. He can really score the basketball and is an electric playmaker with the ball in his hands. In his two games Sunday evening he showed three level scoring ability and impressive explosiveness. Should have a huge junior season.
Jalen Haralson Jalen Haralson 6'7" | PG La Lumiere | 2025 #8 Nation IN (Fishers H.S. 2025)
We’ve talked a lot about the freshman phenom here at Prep Hoops Indiana recently, but you might as well get used to it for the next four years. Even though Haralson hasn’t played a high school game yet, the 6’6″ guard was one of the best players in the gym Sunday night. He continues to impress with his physical maturity, the way he handles the ball, and then explodes to the rim. Truly a special, special talent.
Chandler Jackson Chandler Jackson 6'5" | SF Warren Central | 2022 State IN (Warren Central H.S. 2022)
Jackson has all of the physical tools that you would want in a prospect. At 6’6″ he has the length and size to guard just about any position on the floor and can score in different ways offensively. On Sunday he really played well and scored it more than I’ve seen in the past. There was a stretch where he scored in the post with a big drop step, got fouled on a nice drive, knocked in a three-pointer, and had a nice finish in transition. Remains one of the better defenders in the class.
Amhad Jarrard Amhad Jarrard 6'4" | SG Mt. Vernon-Fortville | 2022 State IN (Mt. Vernon Fortville H.S. 2022)
The IUPUI commit is one of the most explosive athletes in the state of Indiana. At 6’3″ he can get up and finish over defenders on his way to the rim and showcases excellent body control when he is flying through the air. Jarrard handles the ball very well which allows him to play on or off the ball. On Sunday he was creating his own shot at will and looks poised for a big time senior campaign. IUPUI landing Jarrard will end up being a massive recruiting win for them down the road.
Gavin Welch Gavin Welch 6'6" | SF New Castle | 2023 State IN (New Castle H.S. 2023)
Welch is a 6’5″ wing that shot the ball extremely well on Sunday evening. He has a very clean stroke with a quick release that allows him to get his shot off even against tight closeouts. Nice pick-and-pop guy as a small-ball 4. Really showcased his offensive skill set in the two games he played and I watched a good amount of each of them. Poised for a strong season at New Castle.
