I was in attendance at the Pacers Athletic Center all day long to see a lot of talented prospects under one roof. With a birdseye view of all four courts, I was able to take in a lot of action. On Tuesday I’ll be emptying out the notebook with everything that I saw, but let’s start with some of the stock-risers from the event. Earlier, we released six top performers as well.
Luke Almodovar Luke Almodovar 6'2" | SG Noblesville | 2023 State IN (Noblesville H.S. 2023)
Super smooth left-handed guard that looks very comfortable scoring it from the mid-range. In the action that I saw, Almodovar hit a few pull-up jumpers after creating space off of the dribble. Crafty ball handler that uses change of pace well to get to his spots. This 6’2″ shooting guard is poised for a good junior season in a talented Noblesville backcourt.
Matthew Brown Matthew Brown 6'5" | SF Homeschool | 2022 State IN (Homeschool 2022)
I’m just going to keep saying it until things take off for him, but there are going to be college coaches that really regret not recruiting this homeschool product. The 6’5″ Brown was excellent on Sunday evening showcasing his athleticism on the way to the basket with some high level finishes. He is really difficult to contain in transition is explosive towards the rim. Division II/NAIA coaches need to continue to evaluate this prospect.
Omari Ferguson Omari Ferguson 6'3" | SG Indianapolis Metropolitan | 2023 IN (Indianapolis Metropolitan H.S. 2022)
Ferguson is an ultra-explosive guard with some of the best leaping ability in the state of Indiana. 6’2″ left-hander that is very aggressive off of the dribble and is difficult to stop from getting where he wants to go. Really thought he played well Sunday night. I would expect that he scores a ton of points at Metro this winter after transferring over from Pike.
Kyron Kaopuiki Kyron Kaopuiki 6'3" | SG Homestead | 2023 State IN (Homestead H.S. 2023)
Kaopuiki was as impressive as anyone that I saw on Sunday evening just in terms of standing out with a strong performance. The 6’3″ long, slashing wing was excellent off of the dribble all night long getting to the basket and finishing around the rim. Shot the ball well from beyond the arc too. Very athletic and active on both ends of the floor. Could really experience a breakout junior season at Homestead.
Nick Mikash Nick Mikash 6'4" | SF Kankakee Valley | 2022 State IN (Kankakee Valley H.S. 2022)
This was the most aggressive offensively that I’ve seen the 6’4″ forward play. Mikash had a nice summer for Indiana Game, but appears to have really come into his own entering his senior season. He shot the ball well, took it to the basket consistently, and wasn’t afraid to mix it up around the basket. Rebounded the ball well too. Should stuff the stat sheet for Kankakee Valley this year.
Keyon Garrett-Miller Keyon Garrett-Miller 6'1" | PG Southport | 2023 State IN (Southport H.S. 2023)
Super quick point guard that pushed the tempo in transition and got to the basket off of the dribble consistently. Garrett-Miller is thin with super long arms that can help disrupt ball handlers on the defensive end of the floor. Good hands going for steals. He and classmate Anthony Dancler Anthony Dancler 6'2" | SG Southport | 2023 State IN are going to make for a very dynamic Southport backcourt.
Dylan Moles Dylan Moles 6'3" | PG Greenfield-Central | 2023 State IN (Greenfield-Central H.S. 2023)
Moles is a very skilled lead guard that handles the ball well and can makes plays both for his teammates and for himself off of the dribble. Thought it looked like he was in total control running the team when he had the ball in his hands. 6’1″ guard that gets things done on the offensive end and will create a dynamic backcourt trio with Tyler Kerkhof Tyler Kerkhof 6'1" | PG Greenfield-Central | 2023 State IN and Braylon Mullins Braylon Mullins 6'5" | SG Greenfield-Central | 2025 State #123 Nation IN at Greenfield.
