Continue ReadingIn my next few articles, I will be breaking down some of the newest ranked players in the Class of 2024 Florida Rankings released by Prep Hoops this month. These are guys who I was able to watch during their freshmen seasons and think will make a big impact on their respective teams this winter. Whether it was grassroots season, the Prep Hoops Circuit, or just watching their high school teams last year, these are the guys who have stuck out to me in the 2024 class. These guys may be towards the end of the rankings, but they’re ranked nonetheless and are some of the best talent in Florida!
Jaden Baker Jaden Baker 6'0" | CG Bradenton Christian | 2024 State FL , 6-0, Brandenton Christian, Ranking: #140
Baker is one of the highest IQ point guards I watched this summer. He knows exactly where to be on offense and defense in almost every situation. He won’t outjump you, he won’t finish around tough defense, and he won’t be able to drop his defender to the ground, but he’ll hurt you with his guard fundamentals and his killer instinct. He’s mastered some of the subtle arts of the game, like the back door cut and transition passing which make him a highly sophisticated guard. Baker may be more unknown due to his lack of flash, but he’s absolutely one of Florida’s up-and-coming guards.
Brennen Ingle Brennen Ingle 6'3" | CG Charlotte | 2024 FL , 6-3, Charlotte, Ranking: #153
Ingle can flat out score the basketball. He’s an elite shooter that torches defenses from anywhere within the half court. In addition, Ingle adds some sophisticated ball handling and IQ to the Charlotte backcourt. At 6-3, Ingle also has the ability to play the wing when needed, stretching out Charlotte’s offense and making him a great pairing to a head-first pair of guards in DJ Woods DJ Woods 6'0" | PG Charlotte | 2022 State FL and John Gamble John Gamble 6'6" | CG Charlotte | 2023 State #208 Nation FL . Ingle will probably serve as a bench presence for Charlotte this year, but will be a big time bucket getter for the second unit if he can lock in from distance.
Luke Goldman Luke Goldman 6'1" | PG Park Vista | 2024 FL , 6-0, Park Vista, Ranking: #214
Goldman is living proof that hard work pays off. He’s also a testament to what just one summer can do for an unranked prospect. Goldman barely had any hype around him before becoming a dominant force in the Prep Circuit this summer. And while most of Florida had to just take my word for how good this kid is, they got to see it first hand at this year’s Prep Hoops Top 250 event, where him and Bartow stud Kjei Parker Kjei Parker 6'1" | CG Bartow | 2023 State FL created one of the event’s most deadly backcourts. He has a crystal clear jumper and is learning how to manipulate the other aspects of the game in his favor. By the end of this year, teams will be forced to know who Luke is or pay the price.
Geonni Jordan Geonni Jordan 5'8" | PG Haines CIty | 2024 FL , 5-8, Haines City, Ranking: #230
It’s nice to see Geonni get some recognition here, even after how badly Haines City faired in competition last year. In a loss to East Ridge, I watched Geonni Jordan Geonni Jordan 5'8" | PG Haines CIty | 2024 FL single handedly lead the charge and drop 28 points in a win-or-go-home situation. He plays with high intensity and it felt like he couldn’t miss from the arch. Whether or not his team is a competitor in a dangerously good Greater Orlando area region doesn’t entirely matter, since Jordan gives his all every game and is an absolute bucket. He’ll be in store for a great sophomore season, especially if he can manage to grow an inch or two before tip off in November.
