With the season about to start, it is now a good time as any to preview the players that will be showcasing their talents all year. Today, we take a look at a few 2022 SFs to watch for.
Nick Mikash Nick Mikash 6'4" | SF Kankakee Valley | 2022 State IN – 6’4 – Kankakee Valley: Without question, Mikash will easily be one of the most aggressive players in the 2022 class to watch for this upcoming season. This past summer, and currently right now in the fall, he has just showed constant improvement in his overall game and that he is one of the best defenders that we have in the state. Coming into his senior season, he is a more mature player now and will be one of the leaders for Kankakee Valley on and off the court. He is for sure a D3 or NAIA type of player and with a big senior season on what should be a good Kankakee Valley squad, Mikash could be one of our breakout players this fall.
A.J. Dixon A.J. Dixon 6'5" | SF Merrillville | 2022 State IN – 6’5 – Merrillville: Dixon is a strong and ultra-athletic forward that has legit playmaking ability. Physical playing style and can play both inside and around the perimeter very well. Has gotten a ton bigger frame wise over the last few years which has really helped with his overall improvement in his game. Surprisingly is still a little under-recruited bit still does hold offers from Eastern Florida University, Marian University, and Trinity Christian College. Dixon is one of the more intriguing prospects we have and is a guy that can provide multiple options on any team.
Hagen Knepp Hagen Knepp 6'4" | SF Barr-Reeve | 2022 State IN – 6’4 – Barr-Reeve: Knepp is a long and big wing with so much skill. Has a great feel for the game and can get so creative with the ball and that helps him with scoring consistently at all three levels. Barr-Reeve is a team that lost a ton since last season so it is safe to assume that Knepp is going to be the focal point of everything they do. He is coming into this season off a big grassroots season which landed him an offer from Grace. I am going to go ahead and project a monster senior season from him which will open up more college opportunities. Should be one of the top players in all of Southern Indiana this season.
Jake Chapman Jake Chapman 6'3" | SF Tri-Central | 2022 State IN – 6’3 – Tri-Central: I saw a lot of Chapman over the past spring/summer and I can say that this guy plays hard and scores in so many ways. Has a quick release and can get an outside jumper off with the tiniest bit of space as well as use his big, strong frame to hammer it inside. Chapman will again be the guy that provides most of the scoring for Tri-West this season and I strongly believe his numbers will improve a bit more this time around. Small college type of player that recently went on a visit at Hanover. More small college opportunities will likely be on the way for him if he has a strong senior year like I believe he will.
Cole Harritt Cole Harritt 6'4" | SF Floyd Central | 2022 State IN – 6’4 – Floyd Central: Harritt is a tall, energetic wing that can flat out score. Physical player in the paint but also has some deep range with his outside jumper. Playing with Louisville Prospects this past summer, Harritt had somewhat of a breakout grassroots season which resulted in a ton of small college offers/interests/visits such as Wabash College, Hanover College, Franklin College, Lincoln Memorial, Indiana Tech and West Virginia Wesleyan. Harritt is in line to step up in a major way for Floyd Central this year with a few big gradations from last year’s squad. Scoring numbers will likely go up and Harritt will be a tough guy to stop in Southern Indiana.
