Continue ReadingThe Indiana high school season is right around the corner and we at Prep Hoops Indiana will be out and about to cover nearly the entire state all season long. With the season about to start, it is now a good time as any to preview the players that will be showcasing their talents all year. Today, we take a look at a few 2022 PGs to watch for.
Nick Mundy Nick Mundy 6'0" | PG Mitchell | 2022 IN – 6’0 – Mitchell: Mundy is a 6’0 lead guard that will undoubtedly be the main man for the Mitchell Blue Jackets again this season. Last year he averaged 11.7 ppg on a FG percentage of 45.3% while also shooting 53.8% from behind the arc. To add to that he averaged 5.1 rpg and 2.9 apg so along with averaging double figures in points, I strongly feel that his rebounding or assist numbers could potentially hit that that double figure mark as well which would put him at averaging a double-double. Stats aside, dude is just a warrior and plays his tail off until the final buzzer. He improved over the summer against better competition which should translate smoothly into this high school season where small colleges will start to take notice.
Tayshawn Comer Tayshawn Comer 6'0" | PG Cathedral | 2022 State #226 Nation IN – 6’0 – Cathedral: Comer is arguably the best player that we have in the state that is still uncommitted. He comes in this season as the guy that will be leading the charge on a Cathedral team that will more than likely be the number 1 ranked squad in 4A to start the season. He is coming off a dominate spring/summer for Indy Heat EYBL where college coach after college coach had their eyes on him. Speaking of college, the list of schools that have offered him is a huge one with schools such as Bradley, Ball State, Belmont, Butler, Eastern Kentucky, Loyola-Chicago, and so many others so there is a wide variety of options for him. This Cathedral team has a chance to be a special one, and Comer will be at the forefront of it.
Jordan Turner Jordan Turner 6'3" | PG Cardinal Ritter | 2022 State IN – 6’3 – Cardinal Ritter: Out of all the players that made this watch list, Turner is by far the most athletic out of this small bunch. Standing at 6’3, every time that I have watched him, he is always doing things that showcase his athletic ability that almost make my jaw drop. This Cardinal Ritter team has a few questions heading into the season but there is no question about the productivity from Turner, he is going to be the stud of the team. Has offers from Bethune-Cookman, Manchester with D2s and NAIAs being very active. A breakout, dominant year for Turner could open up more opportunities for him.
Patrick Joyce Patrick Joyce 6'1" | PG Bloomington South | 2022 State IN – 6’0 – Bloomington South: Joyce is a skilled lead guard with a high ball IQ. It feels like every single offseason there is talk of Bloomington South being down but they somehow always find a way to make an impact as the season goes along. Having Joyce as the main guy this year helps that. He is one of the smartest players I saw all summer and plays with physicality and toughness. He is a natural facilitator and strong defender but can also provide scoring at all three levels, which he will have to do even more this year. He is a small college guy with a big opportunity to get some eyes on him.
Drew Adzia Drew Adzia 5'9" | PG Crown Point | 2022 State IN – 5’9 – Crown Point: Adzia is a 5’9 PG that is one of the more skilled and consistent lead guards I have seen over the past 2 years. He comes in this season as the man that will run the offense for a very talented Crown Point team. He is in a perfect spot as a lead guard on an offensive heavy team so there is really no pressure on him but if you are a defender that sleeps on him, he will make you pay because this dude can light it up from behind the arc. Adzia is one of the more “under-the-radar” players we have here in Indiana no doubt. However, this guy knows how to play the game of basketball and does it at a high level every single game. College coaches need to keep an eye on Adzia all season long.
